PAP government is pro-business but not pro-people

Singapore is not like USA, a big country which can absorb a lot of foreigners. Our government must realize that Singapore is only a very small country. We are already a densely populated country and yet our government let foreigners come in without control. How to squeeze so many people into such a small country under the existing infrastructure and with limited land. Certainly, someone with common sense will know that this is impossible and such phenomenon would lead to problems. Yet our government still does not realize the problem, doing nothing and keeps supporting their own theory that we need more foreign workers.

What is the meaning of economic growth when our own citizens do not have a share in the fruit of success? Our government is pro-business but not pro-people. Government did a good job to bring in business and investment to this country and implemented many policies to help companies lower their cost. Even the unions side the employers. Why Singapore is always one of the most competitive country in the world. Because, the government always ask the citizens to work hard and to sacrifice. But, what does our people get in return? A salary that barely meets the cost of living. All the company's huge profits goes to the bosses and the investors. To make things worse, even jobs of Singaporeans are now being snatched away by the foreign workers.

So much benefits are given to foreign workers by the government hoping that one day the foreign talents will integrate into our society and become a part of us as Singaporean. Unfortunately, many foreign workers only treat Singapore as a gold mine. They come and bring back the riches to their own country. They will never stay and contribute their best to this country.

In order to succeed, it is important that our country has to rely on its own people. Just like a child, you don't ask the tuition teacher to sit the examination for the child. The child must study hard by himself to obtain good marks in an examination. Likewise, we cannot rely on foreign worker to create success for our country. Our government must nurture our own people to give them the best job and education. I hope our government would really look at the immigration policy and put a stop to the problems that the high influx of foreign workers bring to our country and on the other hand develop our own local talents.

  1. Any 'world class' organization - be it private or public - knows that to succeed in being pro-business it must also be equally pro-people. The two are sides of the same coin. Put it this way, have you seen any coins with details only one side only, the other side blank - a single-sided coin?

Govts or orgs that believed it can get away with using only one-sided coins are usually those still driven by primitive management with a long road of learning ahead. Suicidal too, like that huge, but plainly unscrupulous, dairy company in China which added melamine into its milk to boost protein readings when checked by customers. Murder will out as the saying goes.
