Most FTs are middle to lower middle echelons

If we are truly able to attract the creme dela creme of Foreign Talents that enhances our nations technological, financial, environmental, manufacturing, scientific and research and development sector/know how - the feelings of the general public would be different. If we can attract top talents in the film industry things would make a difference.

Sadly we have just only been able to justify in terms of quantity and not all quality that's being attracted to our tiny nation that is causing all all sorts of unhappiness and uncertainties to our very own people.

We have tried in a few areas to attract top talents from around the world, particularly in the field of research and development and perhaps even in certain scientific areas but were the results positive or successful? So far I believe the results and press reports have proved itself. There were no reports of the who's who of any special field that have migrated to Singapore and taken up PR or citizenship status and have made any major discoveries or something along that line. So far we have not heard to any well know stars in the entertainment field that's produced or are in the midst of any Made-in-Singapore box office films but only news of Jackie Chan selling off his investment in Neil Road, Jet Li buying some $XX million dollar home, Gong Li getting her citizenship and was not even here personally to receive her Certificate of Citizenship from the MInister himself during the ceremony. Pardon me from asking but what contributions have this made to Singapore as a nation and to her people. Were there jobs created because of their appearance or presence?

A huge number of FTs' that are arriving into Singapore in drones as some of our faithful readers would say, are middle to lower middle echelons. They are here looking for jobs not to enhance to job but sad to compete and and simply, take jobs away from Singaporeans not because of their education or specialised expertise in their fields but purely on the basis of being more economically competitive to local Singaporeans in terms of wages and costs for the employers.

If these FTs' are genuinely specialised and trained in their specific field and Singaporeans simply cannot compare their skills and expertise with them, then I am confident this conversation or discussion would never prevail.

Apart from the job-loss scenario due to the influx of FTs', the next 2 equally important issues such as Housing and Transportation comes into the picture. If as I have mentioned earlier, these Foreign Talents which our government so gladly welcomed into Singapore are really of top rated quality then perhaps the public housing issue and public transportation issue might never prevail. On the basis that these Foreign Talents are the creme dela creme of their fields, then I am highly confident that they will be going for private housing as well as private transportation for not only can they themselves afford but rather the companies that attracted them would be more then willing to make sure that these creme dela creme foresight talents remain in their company. The same can be said of many foreign talents who have joined the financial industry in Singapore. They were all accorded expatriate status which includes, housing, car/transportation, meals, children's education, etc ,etc before the financial tsunami in 2008. These talents did not compete with the locals for public housing but instead the private condos and apartments. And most of them are either taking taxis or have their private mode of transport. Their children do not compete for places in our public schools but rather in foreign schools based here.

After the financial crisis a lot of these financial institution took big hits and had no choice but to reduce such talents.
