Tony Tan is still not the right man for the job

Allegations aside, let us look at your distinguished CV, Dr Tony Tan:

As a Minister for Trade & Industry, to grow high end industries, you introduced a high wage policy, raising CPF to 50% WITHOUT providing any incentive for upgrading of the work force, there by singlehandedly causing our economy to be uncompetitive and causing the 1985 recession in Singapore

As a Minister for Education, you closed Nantah, restricted the number of local graduates in Singapore, and ignored calls by Chiam See Tong and your fellow PAP MPs for more universities. In effect, you restricted the number of grads in Singapore, and you depressed the level of our skill and education. How this is in line with your earlier policies for economic growth through high wages is anybody's guess.

As Minister for Defense, you were Chairman for the Singapore National Research Foundation, overseeing the National Science & Technology Board (now renamed to A*STAR). You headlined a S$1.6 Billion investment into US Tech funds and lost just about every penny when the Tech Bubble Burst.

As Deputy Chairman of GIC, you made losses in excess of S$20 Billion when you invested in UBS and Citigroup. To cover these losses and to improve book figures, we sold our power companies thus leaving 90% of our power supply in foreign ownership.

Other notable highlights in your distinguished career include:

1. Calling your fellow Cabinet & PAP member, the great Ong Teng Cheong "FOOLISH" when he pushed for the construction of the MRT.

2. Throwing a hissy fit because you thought you looked bad in front of foreign investors when the great Ong Teng Cheong, in defense of our people, our SINGAPOREANS who were being bulled, sanctioned a strike in the shipping industry.

In short, you screwed up in just about every appointment you ever held and you expect us to believe that you, Dr TT are the ideal person, the savior for us all, to lead us out of this economic gloom?! That has got to be the most audacious sales pitch ever.

I don't know how you made it this far, probably due to your distant relationship with our founding father. But nonetheless, I expect you to win on Saturday simply because most of the 60% are either naive, stupid or blind. So here is a congratulation in advance, for adding yet another overly glorified chapter to your already lengthy CV. You will however get NO vote from me.

I say NO to Dr TT!
