PAP confirms candidate for Punggol East: Dr Koh Poh Koon
Whilst Dr. Koh is a successful individual, is he the right candidate to represent the average SG citizen of Punggol? Why is the obsession of the PAP with so-called "high-flyers" with professional backgrounds? What is the problem with finding an individual who has worked tirelessly in the community, served it with distinction in their quiet little way, but who may not have attended a brand-name university, been awarded a scholarship etc etc. There are numerous successful people who have achieve great things but never attended university, worked in a professional occupation etc.
The average SG citizen is not a high-flyers with elite backgrounds of profession, university, scholarships. So why do we have to be represented only by the so-called elite? Are they only ones capable of directing SG in a compotent manner? I think an "average" qualified person with a dedication to the people they represent and a love of the country, is just as capable of directing SG, and would be more representative of the average SG who are in the majority. Being told by the elite who are the majority how we the majority must think and act is disconcerting.
Time for a careful think about who should be a candidate as being representative of the majority rather than focus on only the elite in thinking they best and only ones qualified. As history shows, the elite just as capable of inept judgement, questionable actions and poor decision making as anyone.
Clearly this guy has a huge chip on his shoulder, possibly an attention whore, narcissist or has some kind personality disorder. I have no clue how he can possible represent his voters. I would not even have him to meet my medical needs as there is not way that he can provide quality care or attention with all these concurrent responsiblities.
