I think it is definitely good for Singapore to have contest on election, that give people to have a chance to vote, to choose what they want, to put themselves on the stake. to carry out their responsibilty and duty. That is good for the parties which participate the contest. Every candidate needs to work hard and try to win the trust from voters. As to the winner, become a MP should not be so comfortable as walkover, and take the achievement for grand for. The contest will remind those elected MP to work hard and serve the people heartfully, otherwise, they can be replaced next time, as well as the ruling party. As to those defeated, participate the contest is and valuabe experience for them, not only have a great opportunity to expose themselves, to promote their idea and though, but become more muture in political, strategy as well. Especially to those opposition parties, I solute to them for their courage and enthusiasm. The opposition parties have created not only the opportunity for Singaporean to vote, but already alarm the ruling party for their service as well. Good luck Singapore.
Wonderer, WELL said. We should be happy with what we have today compare to many other countries, we Singaporean are consider having very good life style. The problem with the "so call educated people" always compare with the super well to do and rich people... why can't they use their brain to compare apple to apple?
I strongly argeed with your statement: You are who you choose to become, Whether you are rich, poor, happy, sad or otherwise. Don't blame the guy beside you! Be answerable to yourself.

Open letter to all true Singaporeans Vote wisely. Search your heart and soul. Look around you. Look back through the years. Think about the little daughters that had to sell their bodies to feed themselves and their families. Think about the fathers and mothers and children who need to leave their loved ones to work overseas. Think of their pain and loneliness. Think of their need to suffer abuse and risks their lives. Think of the comfortable and safe homes you live in. The roads your cars run on. The MRT tunnels. They are mostly build by foreigners. Remember the Hotel New World collapse many years ago? Foreigners help dug tunnels to rescue us. Feel the comfort of air-con public transport. Think of the public transport almost at your doorstep. Think of how well you slept while your precious children are having a good night outing with friends. Think of the poor and needy. Think of the disadvantaged and sick that were helped. Think of all the Charities that stand ready to help. Remember how we all got basic education. Consider how our boys become responsible and honorable men. For the rich and educated. Consider where your well paying jobs and wealth come from. What basic life principles has education taught you? Consider your bungalows and your condominiums and prestige cars. Consider how we can travel almost visa-free worldwide with our little red book. BEWARE of mongers of envy and hate. All Singaporean are free to aspire to become the PM or any position they wish for if they think the money is worth it. Just work and proof your worth and if you feel it is easy to ride on the coattails of the ruling party, then do so. BEWARE of sweet talking smiling salesmen with discounted policies and investments. They tell you what you like to hear. Many are well educated and intelligent taking advantage of the less educated and less informed. Singapore is not the World. We are still the little Red Dot and we need to act and react to the rest of the real world out there. You are who you choose to become, Whether you are rich, poor, happy, sad or otherwise. Don't blame the guy beside you! Be answerable to yourself. These are just some matters that we may consider before we cast our vote. One last word. Never bite the hand that feeds you, only dogs do that.
