Singapore is NOT 1st World

A 1st world country must have a good and fair constitution and everyone, including the people in power abides by the constitution. When this in place, no one needs to fear anyone nor any situation.

What is terribly wrong is for the people in power to manipulate laws and abuse their power to perpetuate their hold on the nation. How different are we then from Uganda under Idi Amin in the 70's, or Iraq under Sadam Hussien or Zimbabwe under Robert Mugabe now? Our opposition is oppressed like theirs. Other than the constant letting of blood in those countries, we are in fact no different from them at all.

For to be truly 1st world, we must be a truly democratic country where every party has an equal chance to be elected into parliament. Where parliament is NOT dominated by a single party. Where each policy is thoroughly debated and all points of view are trashed out. Without this, even if we are the richest country in the world, we are no different from any of the 3rd world country.

The fear that if CSJ or anyone else other than the PAP becomes the PM then will be doomed is totally unfounded. This is because all the machinery that are in place will continue to run like clock work. Singtel will still be there, SIA will still fly and we will still be getting our electricity and water. MNCs will continue to florish here. We will not degenerate into a 3rd world country overnight, nor even after 5 years.

In fact, we will be in an even better position to prosper because there will finally be a truly level playing field! Not just in politics, but also in almost all other parts of society in . GLCs and associations and societies will no longer be populated by PAP stooges.

If more people start to think like this, the day will be very near when we have 2 dominant parties in parliament.

How about making my dream come true in 2011?

How about making my dream come true in 2011?

Politics takes time my friend. Don't be naive.

The PAP will not give up power that easily.
