Mr Lee (Hsien Loong) said: "Coming back from Pasir Ris-Punggol last night, I saw my son at the dinner table and asked him 'where have you been?' 'Ang Mo Kio Workers' Party rally.' 'What were you doing there?' 'Wanted to know, brought friends, 20 of them from school in uniform and went to hear.'
"I asked him 'what did you hear?' Don't know what they were talking about but every time they said something, they cheered - he said that. I said 'why don't you come to the PAP rally?' He said 'so boring and logical'. So I think it's okay. Many more (are) like that, want to hear but when it comes to the moment to vote and decide, I think they know what's in their interest."
Mr Lee said the PAP sticks to the same message during and after elections, unlike the other parties.
Mr Lee said: "They fly a kite and see if it catches the wind. If it doesn't, they let it go, fly another one. (If it still) doesn't, fly another one, and finally if it doesn't fly or no wind, then they give up flying kites and go play with some other games, marbles or something like that. It's exciting to listen to because you never know what new kite will pop up." - CNA

The PAP rallies hardly generated as many people as that of the Workers' Party. Do you think Mr. Lee is suggesting that Singaporeans have the mentality of his kid, that they're cheering without substancial reasons for doing so. Time and time again, the Prime Minister has illustrated how lowly he thinks of fellow Singaporeans, that they're incapable of much thought and aspirations, that a vote for opposition is an act of stupidity. He has continued to defame the opposition parties with inconsistency, but it had been the PAP who have had the same policies, same manner of campaigns, same slogans since 1965. Recall, it was the Workers' Party with a 52 pages manifesto that covered such issues as government and civil liberties, education, health care, trade unions, etc. The information are all on the internet, and we believe as Singaporeans, we're very much aware of "what new kite will pop up" at which parties' rallies. There won't be a kite at the PAP camp, because they're still in the 1965 mode. A vote for the opposition is not an act of stupidity, but an outright demand for reform and development!
During the sixties things were very bad. We got to fight for freedom from colonalisation, then the unpleasantness from neighbouring countries, followed by communists. Being a newly borned country did not make things easy. The team of people who actually built up Singapore is really creditable and it is not solely LKY's hardwork! I respect him for the things he had done for the country, not anything else.
ReplyDeleteLHL, from time and again he has offended Malaysia, China with his speech and actions. Is it really safe for Singapore to be led by a person of his calibre?
Too many times I mediate on this question, if Singapore were to still be under GCT, would it be slightly better?
Just watched CNA. Their coverage makes me sick. The editors and journalists better watch out for karma. What goes around comes around. They have done a great disservice to the people of Singapore
ReplyDeleteHell no!
ReplyDeleteGCT was also a laughing stock back in his days. When he went to China, he needed a translator because his Chinese was just too bad. The Chinese officials were gravely disappointed!
GCT was as much of an idiot as the rest of the PAP clowns, with their million dollars salaries.
Of course he is one clown who says things and easily disregards them. And he is one of those who can rephrase what he said anytime and anyway. Just like somebody now! 'Fix', 'buy votes', 'kids'.....who he is and who those oppositions are? I do not like Chee, but has he been having like a hooligan? Does he deserves to be named in this manner? Decades ago when one of the WP's leader was in parliament, who shot up from his seat to ask this leader of WP to keep quiet and sit down? Parliament!!!! Ha! This particular person was the only one who can make the retired PM, the then SM and now MM's blood boils to the extremely! I salute you, JBJ!
ReplyDeleteHe obvious thinks that Singaporeans have the mentality of a kid because that is how they are treating us.
ReplyDeleteI hope ppl who r really concerned will vote for the opposition... Tat would really make my day..
ReplyDeleteSomeone just told me that PM was giving $10 ang pow to residents of AMK GRC.
ReplyDeleteThis is utter disgrace and it is sad that he has to resort to such actions.
This simply highlights the urgency for you to act NOW! Vote for the opposition.
ReplyDeleteWhat LHL says is consistent with the elitist mentalilty of LKY. It is a well known fact that LKY strongly believes in and advances demographic engineering policies that discriminate against people of lesser intellectual capabilities. If you do not throw LHL out now, he may well for the "overall good of the country" eventually come up with a "plausible justification" of removing the layman's right to vote because these "mindless peasants" are unable to make important decisions. This may happen so insidiously and gradually that you may not notice it till you are left with nothing, no freedom of choice of government, no freedom or speech, not even your prized material possessions. Don't wait till the next election. It may well be too late. A vote for LHL is an endorsement and a mandate for continuing these bigot policies.
So please don't just exercise your right to vote! Spread the truth to your friends and family to vote opposition NOW!
Worship of money is as good as worship Satan
ReplyDeleteGod will punish in His time.
Talk about "buying" votes...
ReplyDeleteI'm really disappointed with PAP's technique. Why aren't there selling their capabilities and personality? They are merely hanging carrots all the time! I might not noe exactly wat the opp. can provide me in future but i'm very sure that I DISLIKE SUCH TACTIC!
ReplyDeleteAnd i'm sure that in about 8years to come, this leegime will fade with time.. For people around here, whom have been giving support to opposition, ever thought of putting the support in action? like, help out in ground activities or watsoever?
I'm sure they need some young n radical ideas to win the hearts of our future youths.
Hope tmr results wun disappoint me.. haizz.. afraid to see leesults..
Singaporeans always complain a lot but when it comes to election, most vote for the PAP...sigh...anyway, those who can vote (i don't have a chance) should support the brave guys from the opposition, at least the WP which has put up a slate of credible candidates. If they don't get in this round, we may revert to one-party rule!
ReplyDeleteLooks like this will not make it to the local media.

Why everyone not mention about NKF? It is not partly Durai's fault to get such high pay. It's the people that monitoring NKF should get the blame.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what happened to all the talk and promise LHL had given Sin when he first took office. There was much goodwill generated from his speech, and subsequently from all the PAP policies that he over turn like 5 day week, etc. As time passes, he is beginning to behave more and more like his father. Is he showing his true colors now or will he be even worst than his father? He has been brought up in a very sheltered environment and succeed in everything he does, so the upbringing probably places him at the top of elitist thinking. I also begin to question all the things he did since he took over, are they meant to work up the ground for this election? cumulating with the progress package? I think I have lost my confidence in LHL...
ReplyDeleteMy wife came with me to the Serangoon Stadium to hear WP's message. Now she is convinced fully that we have a creditable choice. We are going to make our votes count tomorrow at Aljunied. Sorry George Yeo can rest for 5 years first and I am sure the government can find something important for him to do. And there are so many potential PAP ministers returned unopposed already, so no problem.
ReplyDeleteAs for AMK, vote the PM out for 1 term, and make PAP wake up for sure! SM or his father can take over PM position while he rest like George.
"As for AMK, vote the PM out for 1 term, and make PAP wake up for sure! SM or his father can take over PM position while he rest like George"
ReplyDeletewhat if the father cannot last the term? he is 82 you know? the last of the old guard still standing. the rest have keluar baris.
How can a PM talk like that? So disgraceful
ReplyDeleteI am so ashamed if my friends around the world asked me why
kt,
ReplyDeleteI read your blog and must admit that I'm not as optimistic as you are. History has proven itself that the PAP has no incentive to change, given their beliefs... their value system. I believe that any impetus for change has to be started from the outside. We saw that with Vivian Balakrishnan and company. There is a whole host of other examples which I will not list here.
In any case, vote wisely be it PAP/WP/SDP/SDA. I'm sure I speak for everyone on this blog when I say that anyone is entitled to exercise his choice and others should respect that. That's what the opposition advocates. But it is obviously not what the PAP believes in.
Good luck.
Rest be assured that the whole government medical resources is behind the old man. So he won't die so soon.
ReplyDeleteWhat might kill him is if the SM wants that PM role too
He will die and rise again as the undead. Scary! Yup, he did claim before he would rise from the dead if he senses something is wrong. He's just so lovable in his own unique ways.
ReplyDeleteI don't think SDP will win in my consistuency, but what I do hope is my family's votes, together with many others will keep PAP on their toes if they win in Woodlands. If it's WP, I would have no qualms about voting for them. I am just a simple woman who still wonders why opposition ward has to beg for upgrading where the PAP wards do not need to? Since the money are from the people, from the tax payer? And would man of integrity threaten their people to vote for them if they want upgrading? Yes agree that the present govt need to be in checks...
ReplyDeleteI'm very disappointed & disgusted with the way PAP is using HDB upgrading to get voting from Singaporean! They must remember that all Singaporean, irregardless from PAP area or opposition area, are also TAX PAYER! Government is using our tax money to build infrastructure, upgrading all area & so on... Why should the Government not helping the opposition area to upgrading the HDB since they are tax payer too instead of "punishing" them.
ReplyDeleteGE 2006, a new begin... a New Hope for People of Singapore!Esp Voters in AMK & Aljunied GRCs where the heavy weights are you can make the different...
ReplyDeletePAPY is history in no time if they continue GRC tactic.
VOTE FOR ALTERNATIVE PARTIES!
Happy Holiday!
Don't come on so cocksure boy, you can't escape your genes
ReplyDeleteNo point in feeling purer boy, your background intervenes
Listen good and listen straight, you're not the master of your fate
To this you must be reconciled, you'll always be your father's child
At times acclaimed, at times reviled
You'll wind up doing just what I've done
Like father, like son
Like father, like son
Don't assume your vices get handed down the line
That a parent's blood suffices to condemn the child's design
I've done wrong, I can't deny, but at least I know that I
Shouldn't blame that on my stock, this may come as quite a shock
But I'm no chip off any block, I wouldn't wish those words on anyone
Like father, like son
Like father, like son
~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Song By Elton John
I was way insulted by the way PM address this issue, because the local media was so lop-sided, so I had to rely on the Internet as well as attending the rallies. But to be labeled by the PM to be mindless, comparing us with his kid, it is actually insulting the people who attended the Ang Mo Kio Rally.
ReplyDeleteWP has been consistent in delivering their manifisto and I am disgusted by the way PAP done it people slamming, carrot and threats. Really disappointed.
Mr Lee realy need to wake up if he wants to continue politics and I demanded a apology from Mr Lee to the rally attentees.
Pray hard that even PAP wins AMK, it wins marginally only. That is good enough as a wake up call.
ReplyDeleteFor a PM to say the following is really disappointing - he deserved to be out of AMK!
ReplyDeleteTo get the feel of the people's sentiments, he get it from his son who said "Don't know what they are talking about. But every time they said sonething, we all cheered. Actually they spoke a lot, but from beginning to end, to tie them up in a coherent manner, not so easy!"
Obviously, LHL's son is not very smart since he does not know what the WP's speakers are talking about. No wonder, he as PM of the PAP government has no feel of what the people needs and suffering. It is like an emperor without clothes. I wondered if LHL's father LKY also in those days asked his son, LHL for opinions of the people's sentiments. Like father like son?
To imply the the opposition is like flying kites, and see if it catches the wind. And if it doesn't fly another one... and so on, simply implied that we stupid Singaporeans can go and fly kites and not challenge them on how to govern his Singapore Inc. - his own private country!
The other day, he said "Fix" the opposition, "buy" the votes, and now this? What sort of a character is in him? Like father like son, he is becoming like his father - unforgiving, mean, ruthless.
Give him a strong mandate? I would recommend we don't.
Well, unlike you presummed that people attend opposition's rallies to soak up the atmosphere, I just voted for WP in Aljunied!
Guys,
ReplyDeleteif you are his son, you think you dare to tell him the unpolished truth?
Of course the son would him what he wants to hear. That is clearly the problem he is facing: people surrounding him simply wont tell him what he doesnt want to hear.
It is interesting to note the YP PAP forum at http://www.youngpap.org.sg/phpbb/ has turned has been shutted down.
ReplyDeleteDid the forum turned into an anti-PAP platform by thousands of opposition supporters?
You know the answer. Now you know what podcasting is banned!
If voted oppositions into Parliament in this election,asking them to seek an amendment to GRC rules reducing its size to smaller ones says 3-4 members in a group or better still,abolish GRC scheme totally to reflect a level playing in GE.
ReplyDeleteIt a real eye opener for me after reading comments from this site. Many graduates are now out there without an ideal job. What has the government done this far?????? Depending on WDA? Very funny? coming out with lots of job that below $2000 a month. Imagine one with 3 schooling kids and wife take over the role as maid, can $2000 a month create a better life?
ReplyDeleteVOTE PAP, and have wonderful increase in prices for the future. Come on poor people, go broke even more. Cower in fear even more. Let the hands of one pathetic unfair fool rule your future.
ReplyDeleteIf you're scared, vote PAP. if you want something to change in your life, vote the Opposition.
this is just sarcasim, but the meaning is there.
if WP wins Aljunied GRC, opposition will not need to request for smaller GRC, govt will automatically squeeze all "weak" GRC into smaller GRC to minimize future losses. GRC is their main strategy.
ReplyDeleteThat's why the call for independent Election Department from the govt is actually Crucial for Accountability as well as Transparency, else, SMC, GRC always change every election beyond recognization.
Vote all of them out. Then we can have another form of upgrading... Minister upgrading!!!
ReplyDeleteVote PM out? SM becomes next PM? Fantasy. Opp team in PM's const. has no chance.
ReplyDeleteThe election is just going to turn out much like the last and likely return 3 opp MPs and 2 or all 3 may be NCMPs. Maybe just 1 full Opp. MP. This is thanks to electoral sys. which ensures that
even if 40% vote Opp., Opp. do NOT get 40% of the seats in Parliament. We have no Proporational Representation. There is no sign that there ever will be. Ministers instead gloat or justify that there cannot be level playing field in Singapore. If there were, then there would be 40% Opposition seats in Parliament and someone can't deal with this and still run the country due to condition known as multi-tasking impairment.
