Opposition Party Quotes

Workers' Party candidate for East Coast GRC, Eric Tan, said:
"If we win a GRC, you got nothing to lose. You know why? Because a GRC has at least 110,000 people. Can they afford to punish 110,000 people? Can they inflict pain and punishment on 110,000 people? Very difficult. They will try to win you back, because it is so important, and guess what? We will try to retain our seats. You will be king of the road."
Mr Chiam, a Singapore Democratic Alliance (SDA) candidate for Potong Pasir, said:
"Do you know how they work in factories? They have got an assembly line system. Every machine, every device or any equipment, for example, a TV set, if they find that it is no good, they just throw it away and that TV set that is thrown away is called a reject. Now, that is what they are doing to our children when they were streamed in our schools. You make him do this exam and if he can't pass, you just throw him away as a reject. But that is not fair to the child. So I managed to change that."

consider taking up this idea: create a blog to cover parliamentary debates... problem in singapore is that we don't get to see much other than what is reported in MSM and people might not want to readup from parliament website.

  3. has it ever occured to anyone why should there be a need for minority certificate?? I think that is divisive and humilating for even PAP candidate ... is that not what PAP is against - to highlight the difference?? Isnt this going back to "geylang serai" community??

I hereby tear and bleed my heart out as I read and listen to the nonsense that I have refused to acknowledge for 7 years. And now reading all these only made me realise even more the sanitised prison cell that I clambered out of only to return to for reasons I cannot push away.

Since I am here, I have seen and heard of nothing but petty school boy rebuttals and arguements that fail to encompass the bigger picture. What is their vision for the future of Singapore? How are they going to improve the country without playing the 'siding' game. And when are they ever ever ever going to realise that it is not about the upgradings or if we are to have MRT tracks and stations laid at a certain area (that is suppose to be provided to us as citizens and not a bargaining tool during election period)!

If our government has the time to sue the pant of people and others who make 'unsavoury' comments about them, should it not be the case that our government be proving them wrong other than sueing? I question the government's intergrity, i question the iron grasp of Temasek Holdings, i question their understanding of transparency and i also question their foresight and passion and love for the people. Do they tear when we fall? Do they even care? I question all of these.

And until then, I will still look over the other side for greener pastures, just like many who will want to leave. As long as i am not appreciated, like many others, and not needed and not thought of, there is no point. Thus, there will continue to be an exodus of the talented and needed which the governing body will not come to admit or comprehend. So much for the future pillars of society. When your building blocks are supported by a swarm of mecenaries, what makes the government think they will stay when troubles arise?

What is Singapore to be left with then?

Yeah right. Must have blogs and podcast on parliamentary debates.

And the promises made in every rally.

So that one month before the next election, our people can go thru and do some revision. Just like exams.

Then there can be some tutors to highlight important issues not to be missed.

Why don't we make this revision exercise a national event and get sponsors to provise prizes like condo and luxury cars like any other Charity Shows, so that to attract general awareness and attract mass ground participation.

Mr Chiam and Mr Low, can try?

I have the upmost respect for Mr Chiam. Having going through all obstracles the past 22 years, he never says die or give up on us.

Not only Potong Pasir, but all of us should be proud of him.

And I thank PP residents for giving him a chance to prove his worth, by kicking Mah. If Jalan Besar GRC is won by SDA, we will become as one in a big family. Seriously, I don't mind calling myself a PP resident.

    Well said, that last post!

I am profoundly humbled by the spirit of Potong Pasir voters throughout all these years. As long as Potong Pasir has residents of such calibre, Singapore will still have a chance.

Same goes for Hougang too, although Potong Pasir is really outstanding.

Having watched Chiam, Low TK, and listened to some audio files, I am quite disturbed or surprised to hear their level of speech and level of "depth" on matters. Perhaps they are targetting a lower-educated population or trying to garner street level talk, but nevertheless, I admire them for sticking their heads out there.
If I could vote for them, I will.

To the above poster (4:53 AM SGT) - you must not have heard Mr Low make speeches in Mandarin and Chinese dialects. He is an astounding speaker! He is from Chinese school, you can't expect him to be equally fluent in English.
