Don't fall for PAP political trap!

Serenditpity said...

Understand that an emergency meeting has been called by PAP to discuss the final day strategy.

Location unknown.
Meeting convenor: WKS
Attendees list: Unlnown but members from the SPH, CNA and perhaps ISD amongst others (expected attendees about 20)
Agenda: Last day's strategy.
To note: GCT not in the attendee list, though he initally he was also called. GY called specifically. surprise attendee: TCH, Hen and Vivian as well, though they were not part of the core strategy team.

My hunch is that they are looking for new and fresh ideas, as their existing ideas have not had much impact.

PAP clearly didnt expect the crowd's response at AMK on 4th night. They were really shocked. My assessment is that they are going to do something dramatic tomorrow to make sure that they do win Aljunied and PP. They MAY SET UP A BAIT FOR WP to flounder.

Expect dirty tricks, or major stunts by the PAP. the stakes are too high for the PAP.

Apparently LKY was to make a visit there (aljunied) tomorrow morning, but Mama Lee had objected. Dont know the reason.

There is panic and pessimism in the PAP camp which is very easily visible. there is a facade of unity because a small minority of PAP Ministers also didnt like WKS and LKY's handling of JG affair. But they had to keep their mouth shut.

LHL is actually exhibiting nervousness. Not that he is scared of losing AMK, but wondering of the implications of losing Aljunied and the overall percentage of popular vote declining. He cancelled a scheduled interview today at 6 pm with the media.

He is clearly indecisive; keeps going through the draft speech repeatedly. And keeps consulting guys like WKS, Tharman and his journalist friend in SPH about possible reactions to the statements. He is completely unsure.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

(CNA) MM Lee said he was not suing Low 'cos "Mr Low had not called him a liar, and had not defamed him.". But "if Mr Low had called him a liar because Mr Lee said Workers' Party candidate James Gomez was a liar, then Mr Lee could and would sue him.".

Voters, don't fall for the PAP trap! Actions speak louder than words!

Their campaign is full of empty promises which is way out of line with actual historical experience. LHL is promising a consultative government (yet again). This was mentioned before and was never followed through in actions.

WKS is saying that MPs should not quit their jobs. When will it get through to their thick skulls that a democracy is about the people, for the people? Let the people decide! You are not a bunch of compliant idiots who have to be told what to do by the government, though this is what the PAP would like and have led you to believe for the past 40 years!

Please fellow citizens, examine the facts, think carefully and exercise your right to determine the future of your children and your children's children! Vote wisely! Good luck and may God help us all!

Let actions speak for themselves. The PAP is already reneging on their hare brained scheme of means testing. Thanks to Sylvia Lim. If this is what she can do for you within the short span of an election campaign, imagine what she can do if granted full voting rights as a MP?

    Means testing only if feasible

Sylvia Lim is a sincere and down- to-earth Opposition candidate.I have been following 5 of her WP's rallies so far. Very impressive and much better than PAP candidates.PAP candidates are more worried about their MP's jobs and director fees.

  9. Peace, harmony and prosperity, eh? Which planet are you from, kt?

Racism has always been a integral part of Singapore. You know/witness this everyday. Just look at the James Gomez incident, where the PAP is making a big deal about a minority form! Minority groups exist in Singapore because the government has ensured that the ethnic ratios remain, that the Chinese continue to make up 75% of the population, and thereby ensuring a divergence from Malaysia. In no definition does this fall under 'harmony'. Malays and Indians are subjected to day to day racial discrimination at school and the work place.

Our economy is highly dependent on the U.S. If they get a flu, we get the fever. If this is your definition of 'prosperity', then, let the Gods have mercy. Before you start swaggering your finger at me, this economic entanglement is not a worldwide phenomenon. The Chinese who hold U.S reserves have had massive economic development independent of the Americans. The Indians without American investment have enjoyed a continued economic increments. The Malaysians who have been in existence prior to Singapore, continues to enjoy economic and politcal independence from the Americans. These are the definitions of pride and prosperity. The PAP, having no self-confidence of themselves, continue to contemplate their insecurities, and as such feels the need to be at the posterior end of the American imperialists.

You're right, these changes are massive undertakings.. but at least the opposition parties are demanding them. The PAP continues to perpetuate the same substandard bullshit since 1965. It's unfortunate people like, kt, who are still buying it!

  10. In Reply to kt

40 years ago, the PAP had to fight hard and fight dirty to win the people's votes (by means of gerrymandering and the ISA). But what happened 40 years ago doesn't matter. What happens now and in the future matters. Just because you toss a coin and it lands heads doesn't mean that the next time you toss it, the chances of it being tails is higher. Just because the PAP is good in the past doesn't mean it will be good in the future. Statistically speaking, what happens in the past has no effect on what happens in the future. Don't forget, the misgovernance in NKF went on for many years before it was uncovered, and the reason for it being uncovered is because of a blunder by Durai. And the reason why it has never been uncovered before it because the people dare not speak out against it.

We have peace, harmony and prosperity. I do not agree. We should not take it for granted. But we should not harp on it. We should appreciate that it wasn't easy to fight for this, that this is very valuable. And then we move on. If we keep taking in mind such things, then we will have no progress, because we refuse to change, we want the status quo. We have already accepted basic human rights and universal suffrage as a basis for our society. I have appreciated the fight for it, and the value it holds, but I don't think we should bring this up again and again. This is simply because it is the job of a good government to provide such basics for its people. Now, we have always taken for granted that the PAP is clean and has the people in its mind. Should we start questioning this believe?

  11. Erm... anyone knows the source of the information? I know it is a quote from Serenditpity, but does anyone have a link to that source? While I am inclined to believe it, I think it is better to ensure the source of this news before I form my opinion about it.

  12. Take a look at this link.

    http://www.singaporechristianforum.com/What%20will%20keep%20a%20people.pdf

A writer offering some wise words.

Story from the Bible about how the "good years" of King Solomon of Israel who taxed the people very heavily. Israel enjoyed years of peace and propserity, something that sounded familiar to Singapore? Yet, the kingdom ended with King Rehoboam (Solomon's son) when he doubled the tax.

Wise words for LHL if he bothered to listen. Check it out!

  13. To me LHL has shown this elections that paper qualifications is not the be-all and end-all in politics.

Also, he has shown me that a BG could even be devoid of leadership skills.

And lastly, I had previously believed that he would be introduce a more 'open' form of government, and he would not hide behind the shadows of his father. This he has utterly disappointed me.

    Now I substantiate my points.
Firstly, it is the last day of Election Campaigning yet I have heard nothing from him about addressing the lower-income group, the high cost-of-living and medical-costs, yet in the latest news he was just harping for a strong mandate and that the means testing, which is currently being postponed indefinitely thanks to Sylvia Lim, would be ultimately beneficial to Singaporeans.

Next, he has shown a tremendous sense of insecurity by asking the people whether they would want Sylvia Lim or George Yeo to sign FTAs with foreign nations. Also, he believes he needs to 'fix' the opposition and to 'buy supporters' votes' rather than to win all of us over by introducing sound and wise policies. Now we all know that PAP will form the next cabinet and will greatly outnumber the opposition in Parliament come May 6. Yet he says all these. If he is not insecure I don't know what it is then. If he is insecured so easily how does he breed confidence amongst his PAP members and Singaporeans alike?

Lastly, after his father came out the other day and called James Gomez a liar, he promptly repeated what his father said the next day. Then, with his obsession for utter domination in Parliament, he has taken over his father. Also, the joint-lawsuit against SDP, he has resorted into using our infamous defamatory laws just as his father had done so many times before him.

In summary, to me, LHL has taken over his father's likeness in his lust for power. Yet, his abilities and capabilities are way below that of LKY's.

    2. in increasing their own salaries by over 10~14% while citing a general increase for the general population average of 3.5%
    3. because the local media has been controlled by a bloody bunch of sycophants
    4. because they can always tailor the electoral boundaries so they can "win by a 50.1 vs 49.9"

I used to think like you. It is true pap had in the past done a good job which is why many people supported them. Pap was then lead by a bunch of leaders like Goh Keng Swee, Rajanatnam, Toh Chin Chye, Hon Sui Sen, Devan Nair, etc who were without doubt fought very hard to get elected. Please believe me Singapore is today is not a one-man show. These guys' names are hardly featured today but they really sacrificed to fought for independence and progress for Singapore. Money and reward were never on their lips. They were respected because they were not mercenary and not yes-mens. They would argued with lao lee and displeased him if they have too. But nowadays, it is a different story all together. Ministers and mps are recruited in like employees of a large organisation. Looking at the paper-qualified "Generals" in action in only a constituency election, and more of them will be drafted in, I am worried about our NS men going to war if it ever happen.

It is not too late if kt still support pap to wake up pap becasue my believe is that we are heading into big trouble, probably 20-30 years down the road because of pap tinkering with the political system to stay in power and the heavily dependent on "like-minded friends and relative" to rule Singapore and control the assets of Singapore. Recent big international corporate sagas including nkf should give us food for thots.

I am 60 years old with a wife and no children, still working with decent income. Why do I need to worry for a future that may not happen to me? In fact, I should be happy like kt because I am sure I will continue to get progress packages as long as pap is there and of course still doing well.

In fact, pap should appreciate all feedbacks whether negatives or positives and not resort to branding citizens who do not agree with them as anti-Singapore or trouble-makers. In fact, they are practicing discrimintation boldly now re:upgrading. What message does this sent to all the ministers, mps and civil servants? You know how animal handlers trains dogs and even wild animals, any difference?

It is sad, a nation of people has been reduced to such a state. I do not subscribe to this which is why I no longer hold them up high. Where is the dignity of a people?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Anonymous2:18 PM GMT+8

The reason why many pple are of the same mind as kt is because the ideology of the ruling party has co-opted reason itself. kt arguments are reasonable and logically sound. It will take a very brave person to want to give all of this up for what is uncertain.

But I think the larger point is that while things are good, they could also be better. It's not your fault that you don't know this for how could you? You've never known an alternative. Most were born under the PAP and will likely live out their natural lives under PAP rule.

But I think it's time to find. Lets put the politics of fear behind us and let's take a few chances. The sky won't come falling down.

    Let's live a little.

I find the passage below by an earlier post very informative and accurate. What we have today is not the work of just one man, but the result of good implementators and hard working ordinary people. You can have the best PM but if the people are not good, you will also not have success. I am very sure if LKY and Suharto were to change place, Indonesia will stil be what it is today and Singapore will still be what it is today. I have personally experienced being in a project team where all the ideas and work are done by the members with the project manager assigning tasks. In the end, the selfish PM takes all the credit for the project success, not mentioning the support he has from us. So when management remembers the successful project, they only remembers the PM and not the team members who were the ones who should be getting the credit.

"Pap was then lead by a bunch of leaders like Goh Keng Swee, Rajanatnam, Toh Chin Chye, Hon Sui Sen, Devan Nair, etc who were without doubt fought very hard to get elected. Let's learn from the Chinese 2000 over years of history. A danasty will not last more than 3 generations. The first build, the second sustain and the third spend. I respect with all my heart the first generation leaders who work hard and fight together with the people. The second generation of leaders like Tony Tan, Danabalan, Ong Teng Cheong, Tan Soo Koon , Dr Tan cheng Bok to name a few, and the then GCT work hard and sincere in their service. But I have no impression of the good work by this generation of leaders who only make money from the people by increasing GST, PUB, COE,etc and sing the song that LHL sing be it right or wrong. When has the "consultative" policy being carried out.
