"I wish that Dr Chee did mathematics and did it properly because if he did, then he won't come to such silly conclusions. Healthcare costs are determined by two factors. One is the demand, and that demand will increase because of the ageing population. And we are living longer, and the longer we live, the more we are likely to spend on medical expenses. The other factor with respect to healthcare costs is technology. As medical knowledge improves, then what used to be terminal cases can still be saved but at a certain expense."
"Within Singapore, if you compare what we spend on medical expenses to any other country at the same level of development, our costs are lower."
"What causes people anxiety is the way in which spending is funded. We put a lot of stress on the individual, we have helped them with Medisave and Medishield, and what people want is a system where they don't want to worry about costs. But that's not possible."

Lim Boon Heng gags Dr Chee on healthcare
Mr Lim:
Why must PAP always rely on rhetoric? Why must Lim Boon Heng do a personal attack first and not go on and state his case. That's PAP - when they can't win, they use rely on rhetoric.
ReplyDeleteI don't think this counts as an ad homimem attack. It's fair as far as election campaigning goes.
ReplyDeleteCan't speak either way. Speak and you have to register a political party. Once as a political party, you will not be able to PODCAST, nothing you speak will ever be published by the media. Or you are likely to be quoted out of context. Only chances are rallies and public places which you will have absolutely no chance of getting the police license approved easily. So how can anyone speak?
