Please call CNA and let them know that it's an utter disgrace that they failed to provide the forum for opposition parties and their members.
Let them know they're obstructing democracy by practicing self-censorship, and being PAP's propaganda-machine.
We're the rudimentary forces upholding Singapore, and we deserve to know of all the different voices, including dissent!
Call CNA now, and let 'em know you demand better!

for a blog about singapore election watch, you guys seem pretty biased against pap.
ReplyDeleteso much for equality and fairness right?
Well, the bloggers feel that it is necessary to balance the amount of press coverage PAP already relish in. As citizens, we deserve to know all the issues being raised by all the parties, including the PAP.
ReplyDeleteLetting CNA know that they're obligated to ensure equal media coverage of all parties is in itself, a statement demanding equality and fairness!
If the press like CNA didn't portray a bias towards the PAP, but instead, covered all parties' platforms, blogs like Singapore Election Watch wouldn't have existed in the first place.
ReplyDeleteDissappointed with CNA
ReplyDeleteIf the media is not biased against the Oppositions and give them equal and fair coverage, I won't be here today. This is not the first time this has happened. The past Election, the media were like that too.
ReplyDeleteThere's never been a level playing field. The media are PAP-controlled. Thank you for putting up this blog that is giving a voice to the Opposition. We can read about the PAP in the mass media so there's no need to put in the PAP propaganda here. Thanks!
ReplyDeletedear pap supporters, this blog is a medicine you have to accept in the same way we the citizens have to endure the kitschy, pap-sucking cna. but cna is funded by our tv fees! ($100 x 1 million households). but what do you know about the grouses of the common people when you are well-taken care of by the pap?
ReplyDeleteIt has never been a level playing field, but that doesn't mean we the electorate have to condone it or do nothing to mitigate it.
ReplyDeleteHAS anyone been to the website
ReplyDeletehttp://www.yeocheowtong.com/Salaries.html
Go there and see the minister's salary. This is amazing.
You claim to be "fair" and objective, but your blog is ridden with anti-PAP bias. You should ask yourself if you're really fair.
ReplyDeleteJust look at how the print and TV media are playing out the "so called "Gomez Event" with the PAP and the supposingly independent election department.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing! With pages and pages of coverage in all newspapers and repeated extra long telecast in TV channels... just trying to dig bones from an egg... an innocent mistake of not submitting a form out of the numerous forms designed for standing an election in GRC!
Much have changed in almost every aspect of our lives since Singapore's independence, but definitely not the media in Singapore in terms of polical coverage, especially during election.
btw, the missing form is meant to certify that Gomez is an Indian... that the PAP seems to have great doubts!
ReplyDeleteGuys, Mediacorp is 100% owned by Temasek Holdings. And the CEO is none other than the wife of the PM.
ReplyDeletehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temasek_Holdings
Pap will win becos the future of Spore depend on pap, no choice. have to bear it whether you like or not. otherwise migrate
ReplyDeletePAP needs some drama every election... last election it was the Dr Chee incident... and the bloody news cant get enough of it. Suddenly not handing in a form to prove that "Gomez" is indian becomes an issue as big as 911. Why not call CNN to report this huge event... im sure the world is interested in such a major event.
ReplyDeletePlease do not underrate the people power / public dissentment on this trivial matter. It is blowing out of proportion.Pl look at the main issues now facing by Singaporeans.
ReplyDeleteand in the end, PAP provokes the indians...
ReplyDeletehaha... that's pretty far fetched!
ReplyDeleteThe primary objective is to shed more light onto opposition views that the mainstream media continually curbs. As Singaporeans, we deserve to know all the opinions so as to make the appropriate decisions.
ReplyDeleteElection blogs cannot be nor should it ought be objective. They provide alternative perspectives and raise dissent especially in societies like Singapore. This is in itself a subjective ambition, and the Singapore Election Watch does not claim otherwise.
This blog is also intended to be informational despite primarily covering opposition parties. The blog ensures all posted material are factual.
Finally, there is no equivalence to what this blog persues to the likes of PAP. This blog is a direct opposition to PAP. Singapore Election Watch honours the very democratic ideals that PAP stifles, and provide a forum for suppressed opinions.
the censorship practised in CNA's forum is seriously pro-PAP. every post I made questioning PAP's policies have being disapproved. what's the point in having a discussion forum??
ReplyDeleteCNA is just too painful to watch. biased reporting.
ReplyDeleteI was at Yio Chu Kang Stadium today, 30 April, SUN for the SDA's rally, it was a BlAST. I had the opportunity to shake Edmund Ng's hand and I said to him: "Give them a GOOD Fight". Thumbs up for these guys. They are REAL men who Fight like Real Warriors. I Salute YOU. SDA.
ReplyDeleteThe PAP can control the printing press but they cannot control everything. Everywhere, we are seeking the truth. It saddens Singaporeans, or at least those that are aware of it, that the Opposition are made to look like fools and idiots whereas the PAP candidates are portrayed as being wise, infalliable and incapable of making mistakes.
ReplyDeleteNo single press can be trusted to be FAIR i.e. 50-50 in reporting. They always take sides. But in CNA case, it could be a case of 98%-2%. This is unacceptable in a country where only 1 press is allowed. In mature countries, that's the precise reason there are many news papers, each one championing their own views and they are always partisan. But having 20 partisan news paper or media, this means that there is balance of reporting as people can see each party's view point. This is NOT available in Singapore, hence there must always been an outlet.
ReplyDeleteI can't stand reading the papers or watching CNA. Its a PAP party gazzat. They keep playing the form incident over and over again. and show low angle shots of the opposition too look bad.
ReplyDeleteAnd every year during election PAP always say upgrading , upgrading. I find it hard to stomach that I pay TAX. and I mean serious TAX (5 digit a yr) and u tell me becoz I dont agree to the policies I am not entitled to anything?
Anyway CNA and ST are hard to stomach. I skip them these days.
the elite gets extra pay as appointed company directors!

ReplyDeleteDo you all know why most autocrats hated the Internet more than the Freedom of Press?
ReplyDeleteFreedom of Press can be ranked 140+ in the world, but Internet could not. ;)
This is why site like this existed to balance out the propaganda from the media.
