Why Tony Tan?

It is almost a given that Singapore politics will evolve into a multi party system. Given that PAP's popularity can slide below 50%, there is a chance that the coalition of the losers ( as in UK) might even oust PAP from power.

TT is be crucial to PAP's Machiavellian scheme to rejig the Presidential role to cover this contingency.

TT is a Hegelian construct of PAP the same way that the GRC is.

The problem with PAP is that its mission is totally misguided. Its economic policies on financial numbers as a representation of the greatest good are misguided, its economic policies on reserves and the mission of having reserves for reserves sake are misguided, its social policies on population and immigrants are misguided, its definition on what is good for Singaporeans is misguided, its policies of unbridled openess in searching for the best talent and the best resource from the rest of the world are misguided, its arrogance that Singaporeans are not good enough and Singaporeans have themselves to blame are misguided.

Singapore is a small country. Singapore should never punch above its weight. Singapore should be positioned acording to its physical size, its population potential and its socio geo political position. If PAP thinks Singapore's GDP should be $1 trillion, its population should be 6.5 mio and its growth should be above 10% and its reserves should double to $2 trillion then I think PAP is driving Singapore down the toilet at the expense of true Singaporean heartlanders. This country will be run by foreigners not in terms of the government but in all other aspects of Singaporeans' socio economic lives. The elites rub shoulders only with foreigners that kiss their asses and they have a distorted view and experience of foreign talents.

It is about time that Singaporeans determine who they want to live with, it is about time that Singaporeans determine the character of our own nation and the quality of our lives. It will soon be too late when the very soul of Singapore is lost to a Faustian bargain. A social compact that PAP has crafted, not the social compact that Singaporeans wanted. We are losing our souls very fast. PAP has commercialised every facet of government policy where numbers and greed are good. They are enshrined as first principles in PAP's policies. These have now been embedded into the PAP culture: astronomical ministerial salaries, golden parachute to GLCs, casinos, foreign senior management and CEOs in Temasek, DBS etc.

Singapore should always put Singaporeans first in every social, economic and political policy. Not a nominal first as is now the case in education, healthcare and housing. Singaporeans should be first and second in every single government policy. PRs should be a far third and not a close second in all the policies.

Singaporeans of all walks of life except those who walk with the MIWs, are sick of the the mantra that GDP, top foreign talents, high ministerial salaries, reserves for reserves sake are justifications for the greater good of Singaporeans. Wake up PAP! Wake up for Singaporeans' sake.

We should have more faith in Singaporeans in middle managment jobs, top level jobs in GLCs and in all organizations that the government has control. We should take the chance on Singaporeans first and groom Singaporeans in everything we do. It might slow down the GDP by 1 to 2%, it might take us longer to reach our goals, we might not be able to punch way above our weight, but this path is more meaningful, this path is more pro Singaporean and this path is certainly what all Singaporeans want when they voted for the government.

Most of the Ministers' sons and daughters are overseas studying. Emeritus Goh has the gall to call overseas Singaporeans traitors. They have millions, they have their connections, they have their overseas network, their sons and daughters have overseas education.

Singaporeans have only themselves and Singapore to fight for. And fight we must to stop this Faustian bargain that PAP has negotiated. This is not the social compact that Singaporeans' dream for. This is a nightmare that PAP has delivered: A FOREIGN DOMINATED SINGAPORE.

Given the future scenario, TT is instrumental to another political overhaul of the presidential role. It is coming. The elected presidential role should be abolished. It is not democratically elected. It has been PAP endorsed so far. Inderjit Singh knew that TT was PAP's choice. There was no referendum for this. Nathan was just a waste of time, a waste of money, a stupid expensive ceremonial custodian of our reserves.Nathan was not competent to do the job. What does he know? He is just a journalist, a labour union guy. His claim to fame was he scratched the back of Harry Lee. It is time that PAP stop telling us who is competent.

Again let me remind PAP that the world is not your oyster. If PAP continues on this unbridled mission of making Singapore Inc; the top 1% of China and India alone has 20 million people who are smarter than all the Tony Tans of Singapore. They will fill every single Singapore job from CEO to toilet cleaners with 15 million TTs to spare, waiting in queue to come in. This is of course an extreme example but if you were to measure PAP's policy today, we are at 75% of the situation we should cut back by at least 25% of the excesses done by PAP. Does PAP know where to draw the line and when to draw the line? I dont think so. For the last 5 years, Singaporeans have been made to queue behind foreign talents; yes for our own good we were made to believe. Look at the history of DBS, NOL, Temasek and the Singapore banking industry.

The problem with PAP's idealism is that they dont know when to stop: they think $1 trillion reserves is a good thing and not enough, they think top foreign CEOs is best for Singapore, they think $4 million salary for President is reasonable, they think that using charity donations to pay NKF's high Presidential salary is peanuts, they think PRs should be able to buy HDB and should be a close second in primary, secondary and tertiary education, they think reserves should not be spend on nursing homes and lifts for every flat because they are consumption, they think we should have another 2 million immigrants. They think that astronomical ministerial salaries are required to stop corruption at the top. If a candidate, no matter how smart, demands and justifies such a salary scale, then he/she should be in the private sector. Just like social workers, political appointees perform a social work and respond to a social calling. If $500,000 a year is not enough to raise a family, then how do ordinary Singaporeans raise theirs? If $500,000 is not enough, then he/she is not temperamentally suited for the job. It takes a certain mindset, a certain passion to take the job. But no, PAP has made the ministerial job, a monetary calling. They lump various groups as residents in their statistical report. They present data that stretches the truth. If the government cannot make a clear distinction between citizens of Singapore and residents of Singapore, it is about time to change the government. These are not ideas from a first class government, these are ideas from an elitist misguided self serving government.
