Seeking more clarity on Tan Jee Say's job record

MS Clara Tan on ST Forum 21 Aug 2011

"While I am glad that voters have a choice in electing the president in this election, there are still concerns about some candidates and their background. I for one do not want to be swayed by online rumours, but I wish candidates would be more forthcoming with their track records and background so that voters can make a ratinal decision."

The presidential candidates have all been given the CE, so they are qualified, and have no qualms that the election depeartment will disqualify the candidates, especially ones not backed by the PAP on any hairs they can find. If the writer has question on the eligibility, or if they are qualified, perhaps she should redirect this to the election department.

By making such a request, it is quite obvious that the writer is already swayed by the online rumours. It will be useful to understand the candidates background and track record. Perhaps, the "distinguished" TT can start by, for eg. explaining the decisions taken when he was in charge of the GIC, and the losing of billions and billions of taxpayers money, his track record and what he has done for Singaporeans in the past few decades? not the stories and the cover ups by SPH, one of his tools and machineries used, during his active political period, to ONLY print positives on anything related to the incumbents, the GIC & TH, all managed by people with strong links the PAP, but have done visibly BADLY.

"In particular, I am concerned about Mr Tan Jee Say's economic and business credentials and track record."

Why is the writer ONLY concerned about TJS, and not about TT who has shown to blow away billions with his track record, and TCB with absolutely no financial experience, like Ho Jinx who has also blown away billions in Temasek with no repercussion most likely because of her links?

"One key role of the preseident is handling the national reserves"

Why is the writer NOT concerned about TT's track record of losing billions, and asking him to explain? If the writer expects TJS to provide an explanation and clarification of his track record, then all the rest of the presedential candidates should also be expected to do so. Why is the writer tageting TJS? Shouldn't all the candidates be allowed to clarify and provide us "daft" Singaporens more insights on what they did for Singaporeans in the past decades. It will be interesting to hear what the rest of the candidates have to say, especially TT.
