Cooling Off Day Violation By Tony Tan
I wish to bring to your attention on one instance whereby the Cooling-off Day rule could be violated.
I was on my way to Tekka Centre for lunch around 2pm yesterday (26 August 2011) which we all knew is the Cooling-off Day for the Presidential Election 2011.
I happened to walk past a corner shop called Hua Brothers Hardware(Pte) Ltd (near one of the Little India MRT entrance at Blk 662) and a stack of election flyers for Dr Tony Tan (CONFIDENCE FOR THE FUTURE: see attached photo) sitting right at the top of the newspaper rack caught my eyes. Without any doubt, this is obviously meant to be distributed to those who are buying newspaper from the rack at the same time. (On a second look, it looks especially ironic while it sits prominently on the rack that is provided to the vendor by SPH).
I feel that this is a breach of election rule under Cooling-off Day by a supporter of Dr Tan Tony Tan (who is most likely to be the shop owner). It also bothers me much that if there are no complaints from the general public, these flyers are likely to remain there till the release of the election result on Polling Day tonight.
From a Citizen with much concern,
Xiaohui
