Tony Tan remains the ONLY qualified candidate?

Some of the things that Dr Tony Tan presided over when he was one of the deputy prime ministers during his active political days, and yet have somewhat negative consequences for Singaporeans, are overlooked. For instance the policy which welcomed foreigners to take up scholarships offered gratis by Singapore Government for instance, which marginalized the local students from the local universities - NUS and NTU in particular. How how about his direct links with GIC and the likelihood that he will not question his own 'baby' which he played an important part to take good care of then? There are more, and possibly can be covered in a separate article to balance this current one.

Otherwise, there seems to be the impression that Dr Tan remains the ONLY qualified candidate, though he might on paper be the most likely winner. But one thing that remains clear and undisputed is this: he is the closest to the rungs of PAP leadership and once held some of the highest pinnacles of policymaking here which subsequently created negative consequences for the common Singaporean folk in the street. If he becomes a President, will he be actually bolstering the PAP's dominance since he will at worst support PAP's policies or at best, be like the current incumbent, remain silent towards policies which are wrong? I tend to think that if he becomes president, this is a possibility.

Lastly, in view of his links with SPH, do you think Dr Tan will be, in his capacity as EP, supportive of a freer and more impartial press?
