As far as i am concern, Dr Chee is and has always been the most passionate politician and activist in Singapore. I also believe that he must be one of the most honest person here so much so that he could openly challenge the government without fear of any possible dirty linen being found and exposed in public.God Bless you Dr Chee.
Gilded tombs do worms infold? On the surface Singapore looks like paradise. Things are not what they seem. (I am a foreigner here).
You have to respect Dr.Chee for putting his money where his mouth is and fighting for what he believes in - which btw are universal human values. I'm sure he will die a much happier man than most people here - even if he failed in his attempt to bring true democracy to Singapore. Do you realize what courage he must have to stand up to the sort of tyranny that has come to symbolise LKY and the PAP?
Democracy is a good in itself. It is not a means to economic progress. Individual rights, the right to speak freely, the right to protest, the right to gather are as important as the right to clean air and water.
Wake up people. Life is more than shopping and a vibrant night life.
Dr Chee could have very easily leave Singapore and live a comfortable live in other countries with his neuro-psychology PHD and his wife's psychology PHD. So the fact that he and his family are willing to forgo all that and stay in Singapore to suffer the consequences of his passion to fight for the basic human rights of Singaporean proves to me that he is a loyal Singaporean who should command the respect of any human beings similar to people like Aung San Suu Kyi and Nelson Mandela. Lastly, his fight reminds me of V in the show V for Vendetta.
In fact, the country depicted in V for Vendetta describes no better than Singapore. When I watch that movie, it reminds me of the state of Singapore. Except, Chee is no V, at least not using violent means. He is the equivalent of Aung San Suu Kyi for Singapore.
When you look at who PAP are dealing with - the oppressive Burmese military govt, corrupted Indonesian business man, we all know that PAP is not clean. They all swim in dirty money.
bravo....dr chee is well-known for his outspoken workds and ideas..I as other folks really want to hear the complete version of dr.chee's speech..I am also interested in getting the powerpoint slide(may be can be converted into pdf format)presentation of dr.chee..

Remember the power of intention. If you do not believe that democracy would prevail in Singapore one day, then we do not stand a chance.

ReplyDeleteTo me it is not a matter of whether democracy would prevail but when.
