PAP has forced us to take strong action

Why do we compare with the worst examples from other countries? Why don't we compare ourselves with the best in the worlds, since the PAP tells us that we are world-class this and that, excellent this and that? Have we arrived already? We don't have serious problems ourselves? PAP don't seem to be able to solve them, or else choose to deny and ignore the problems. Why don't we strife to achieve the best we can? We so complacent with ourselves?

In many countries, opposition parties can challenge the ruling party. Government can change hands at every election. In Singapore the dominant PAP have become the de facto monopoly governing party in Singapore for more than 50 years without a credible opposition throughout all these years.

Now only 2 Opposition members in parliament. No threat to PAP. Even 20 or 30 ( 4 to 5 GRCs) seat in parliament is no threat to PAP government. No need to scare us. A stronger opposition is good for Singapore. It will make the PAP a better government for Singapore. If the PAP cannot solve Singapores problems, or create problems for its citizens, like so many FTs flooding our small country, take away our middle income jobs, make our middle-aged 40 yr+ citizens lose our jobs, take low pay jobs, over-crowding in public transport, shortages of hospital C-class beds, shortage of doctors, dentists, lawyers because the PAP refuse to increase intake of these courses even 4As 5As not good enough to be doctors and lawyers, refuse to build enough hospitals and universities, too little too late, import so many foreign doctors and lawyers, make shortage of HDB flats unaffordable, prices shoot up sky high, PRs buy up many HDB flats, allow too many cheap FW( F Workers) forming 40% of population make Singaporeans feel like minorities in their own land, changed the basic character of Singapore, like we are living in a third-world country. The PAP government favours foreigners and foreign companies over local companies. It has BIG businesses, Big MNCs at heart. It cares more about making tons of money at all costs. It cares less for the ordinary citizens. All its policies favour the Big Corporations over its citizens. The rich grow richer, the poor becomes poor. During Recession, CPF cut, pay cut. When Companies make tons of money, CPF is still cut, NWC no increase, salary no increase. PAP has made Singapore into a huge corporation called Sing Inc. Its purpose is making tons of money, huge reserve. Nothing wrong with big reserve, but the government must use it to benefit its citizens, not be so stingy and paranoid to spend some to benefit Singaporeans. But we are getting only peanuts Grow and Share, peanuts to keep us happy temporarily. PAP ministers get 8 months bonus and $Million Dollar salaries. Social Welfare recipients only get a few dollars a day, not enough to survive.

So you think PAP has done a first-class job already? Don't be so complacent. True, we have come a long way. But that was yesterday. Today the PAP appears to have lost the way or gone the wrong way. Time to tell the PAP a strong message. It does not seem to be listening. What do we do? The strong message shall be to vote in a few more Opposition MPs into parliament. We have no choice. The PAP has forced us to take strong action now.

To be fair to everyone here, I know that in their hearts they are not anti-pap or pro-opposition. But these are just humble, reasonable, patriotic people who want the opportunity to have their views heard and see good governance for the nation. Here's how I know - have any PAP leaders been pelted with rocks or had their effigies burnt? There was a one-off case where a nut set an MP on fire, that's it.

  2. Yes that's is quite true - we look after our own interests. But it is time to change that before we self-destruct. Situation now is Singapore has become a "hotel" where people check in and check out - there is no commitment to make this place a home. Now with more foreigners, soon the true Singaporeans would become guests in our own country.

If we want a better future for our family and future generation in Singapore, we have to support the party who really speak up for Singaporeans sincerely (Employment for Singaporean 1st and Fair Employment for Singaporeans, More controls on FTs and PRs)?

Under-employment for PMET Singaporeans in their 40s/50s due to the high influx of FT/PRs should be addressed seriously too. Employment statistics don't reflect actual problems.
PRs (Foreigners) and Singaporeans should be reported separately in all employment statistics.

Is the incumbent PAP MPs supporting genuine Fair Employment for MORE capable Singapore Citizens OR MORE PRs/Foreign Talents?

    Vote wisely
Fair Employment for loyal capable Singaporean First.

As much as it claims, Singapore is not a democratic society. It is now a business, a corporation, not a country.

BTW, KY recent vote-us-or-else comments, saying one's basics will be deprived if votes go to anybody else but wait a minute - Aren't you and your guys the ones calling for election?

What is the point of calling for election, if voters are threatened for voting opposition? Absolutely illogical. If things are going ok, people will not waste their time and energy in voicing dissatisfaction. If there is smoke, there is fire. The question is to what degree that those in power had the ability to make things better. Do they have the resources - people (so many high flying scholars), money (government reserves) to preempt and alleviate. They have. So something is not right. There are pluses in Singapore but the rising minuses are just too glaring. The PAP leaders have to acknowledge what had been wrong and make changes. If they keep insisting on their approach, there will not be solution. Why is it that they can be wrong and still get renumerated to the full extent? In the private sector, this will not happen.

Sadly, this self interest trickles down to the population as well.

  9. Unlike govt in western democracies, PAP represent a govt that put self interest first - not the interests of Singaporeans. The issue really is "Do we want a govt that runs Singapore like a business conglomerate where CEO Ministers are paid millions for hitting revenue (GDP) targets by whatever means?" If the govt is not looking after the interests of Singaporeans, then whose job is that? Time for Singaporeans to vote a strong voice in Parliament.

  10. Agree that there should be opposition. But at working level rather than in parliament. If this small mountain have 2 tigers, it will then not be about cost of living. It will be about "living".
