    2. Gerald Giam (yes, this is the same Gerald Giam who's contesting on WP ticket this year)
Who: He's a proud member of the Films Appeal Committee at the Media Development Authority.
What does he say: "I would prefer a Code of Ethics that the majority of law-abiding bloggers would willingly agree to. This Code should be concise, localized to the Singapore context, simple to understand, easy to adhere to, and non-binding. Its function would be symbolic rather than regulatory."
What does he mean: Nothing. If you read further down, you would realize that he's just another fear-mongering mouthpiece from PAP.
Why should you oppose him: If the authorities want to take legal actions against bloggers, this "symbolic" gesture will not stop them. Furthermore, the journalists from the local media do not restrict themselves according to the International Code of Ethics, but instead, represent the institutions that govern them.
What can you do: Ask him to stop pretending as though he's one of us, at: sgpatriot[@]gmail.com

Shows lack of judgement? Or should we continue to slam Gerald Giam?

  3. Chen lost his own daughter a few years ago, you could see the emotion in his face when he talked about fathers and their daughters.

Smart lah. He looks like someone who's gone thru a lot to build a life and name for himself (& spore) & that's what's lacking in our MPs - easy life and short cuts to success; no wonder they cannot empathize with fellow s'poreans.
