Concern Singaporean, Look at what the WP had done to hougang and after the mess done in hougang low thia khiang decided to run away to aljunied and leaving his own soldier to face the financial problem in hougang if he wins??????????? see video
Obama said, "Yes, we can!"
ReplyDeleteFor Aljunied, Holland-Bukit Timah and other constitutencies, IF NOT NOW, WHEN??
An awesome speaker who also talks sense. Check out his blog Singapore 2025. There's a video of Sylvia in there too asking PAP ministers if they have a shred of shame taking home so much of S'porean money as salary.
ReplyDeleteHe, like Nicole and Alec, are true blue S'poreans who remind me of old days when Fandi, Sundram and Quah carried our flag & made us all feel so proud of being S'porean. Has PAP ever made us feel that way? Our government is always scolding and looking down on us. Let's throw them all out.
The PAP seem to be clutching at straws in dealing with Aljunied. SM Goh made the argument that every candidate in his GRC team is equally important; carrying their own weight is the term I think was used.
ReplyDeleteDoes he not see the irony in the fact that when referring to Aljunied, the best he could come up with was that the residents would be depriving the government of George Yeo, thus in his view upsetting some sort of balance (There was also some mention of losing Zainul Abidin Rasheed as a possible speaker of parliament. No big loss there since the parliament we would have if the PAP swept back to power would only require the mastery of the word YES. A replacement speaker could be found anywhere. But perhaps just to be safe we should advertise the vacancy to 900 000 foreigners and wait for takers, because I doubt any Singaporeans are qualified). So effectively, this GRC has become all about retaining one person, leading us back to the beginning of this absurdity; who does the GRC system really serve? The people or a select political party? Why persist with such a clearly flawed system? I don't see how voters, who want one particular politician but not 3 or 4 free-riders to boot, benefit.
Furthermore, the PAP have been adamant that the WP are not up to speed with local issues within the ward. But ask why you should vote for the PAP, and you get vague references to bilateral talks with Malaysia or other multilateral negotiations that apparently only George Yeo can handle. Yet it is the WP who are hijacking the local issues of Aljunied voters for a national cause.
In the customary PAP 'vote for us or else' threat issued to Aljunied residents a couple of days ago, the point was made that residents had the choice between; a foreign minister, a potential speaker of parliament, a woman minister, an MP who has left no discernible impact on residents and a newbie who I am sure is probably 'ministerial calibre' AND a single ward MP, one NCMP, one "celebrity" and two UNKNOWNS.
I say MP Low's record speaks for itself. Simply speak to anyone from Hougang. Sylvia has been a tireless advocate for accountability in parliament and someone so dedicated does not deserve the indignity of returning to parliament to fight on OUR behalf as merely an NCMP. The PAP try to undermine and cast aside Chen Show Mao as simply a 'celebrity candidate'; but the man is seriously qualified and more importantly, he is ready to put those qualifications to use for his fellow Singaporeans. As for the "unknowns", Fasial Manap, is a counsellor with a volunteer welfare organisation. Serving Singaporeans is already known to him (something that I suspect would be foreign to a lot first time PAP candidates). As for Pritam, I think his sincere desire for change is the sort of spirit we need in our parliament. He will ask the tough questions that need asking.
This team is reaching out and offering us a credible and coherent alternative. For years we have been able to ignore the opposition. We have found it easier to tow the line and we justified it to ourselves in our minds by saying :"when they can come up with some proper candidates, I will do my part and duly oblige".
If not now, then when?
