WP @ Serangoon Stadium

MR. Low Thia Khiang's Speech at Serangoon Stadium
May 5th, 2006
Dear Fellow Singaporeans

This is the last leg of the election campaign. First of all, I want to thank all of you for your support. I would also like to thank the media and the police department for their hard work over the last 8 days.

WP has worked hard over the last few years to build a credible team of people. We started our campaign early this year with the publication of our manifesto to state our position on various policies and offer alternatives.

Right from the onset, we look forward to an election where we would be able to challenge and debate with the PAP on issues and policies that people are concerned with. We are not interested in pock barrel politics.

However, even before our manifesto hit the public, the PAP asked us to change our manifesto. Then before Parliament was dissolved, PAP wanted WP to introduce our candidates. Midway through our election campaign, PAP wanted us to withdraw James Gomez from the Aljunied team.

This is typical of the PAP. They are arrogant with a “We know what’s best” attitude. Let me tell them this – WP is not subject to the PAP; Nor are we afraid. We have our own mind!

In this election, we give you a choice to make the PAP accountable to you, to look after your needs and your future. With the interests of the nation as our topmost priority, we went into our campaign with a focus on what people are most concerned with:

Accountability
Hope for the Future
First World Government

In the last few days, we have raised issues ranging from healthcare costs, lift upgrading and cost of living. We have also taken the PAP to task for not accounting to you and reject their behaviour of political engagement in this election.

We want a better future for you and a level up of Singapore to the international community as a First World Nation.

In the past, people believed and voted for the PAP but they are not infallible. And it has become more obvious and urgent that we need independent checks and balances if you want them to account to you.

Currently, with only a few lone voices in Parliament, the opposition is weak. The only way to make the PAP account to you and change their policies is through the elections. What the PAP is most scared of is your vote! And you must protect this right to vote before it’s too late.

We fully agree that honesty and integrity are important traits for MPs. So right from the onset of the campaign, I have instructed all our candidates NOT to make any personal attacks or baseless allegations against the PAP.

I believe we must have a more civilized political culture and political engagement must be based on facts and debate and NOT name-calling. An open debate on policies and issues will give us a better understanding of the policies and intent of the government. And with this, people can participate more actively in decision-making of policies that affect them.

Disappointingly however, the PAP candidates behaved otherwise. Even new candidates got inducted into the PAP’s culture of making offensive remarks about opposition very quickly. Some of them even equate us as horse and donkey. One new PAP candidate for Ang Mo Kio GRC, Lee Bee Hwa, who spoke in Mandarin over Channel 8, 6.30pm news on 30 April, said that “Workers’ Party candidates may have integrity problems. ”

This is uncalled for. I did not demand an apology as she’s new and people make mistakes. A minister also called WP the Wayang Party. They are not only defaming our candidates but our party as well. Do you know what would happen if an opposition MP said this?

I have told the press during the introduction of our candidates that they were selected based on 3Cs and 2Ps – credibility, capablility, character, passion and public spiritedness.

We are coming to the end of the election campaign period and I have observed how our candidates have carried themselves this election. It has reinforced my confidence in them. The PAP is also unable to dig out any skeletons about our WP candidates. Why? Because there are none!

The PAP has questioned the intention of James Gomez with regards to the minority certificate. I have asked all potential minority candidates to apply for one in case of a strategic switch in constituency. The Malay candidate for Ang Mo Kio, Abdul Salim, has also applied for one although we already have Gopal Khrisnan there as our minority candidate. This is the reason why James went to apply for the certificate.

As this episode has caused much distress to the Election Department unwittingly, we have asked James to apologise and this he did. I have spoken at length to James on this and have not found any evidence to prove that James is dishonest in this context.

It is unfair for George Yeo to use the analogy of a thief on James. What has James stolen from the Election Department?

None of our Workers’ Party candidates have made any personal attacks on the PAP candidates. None of them have raised any issues on race or religion to incite the people. On the contrary, our candidates have spoken responsibly on issues and concerns raised by the people.

Workers” Party is a responsible party that you can trust. We are worthy of your vote.

I told the press this morning that this election is a wake-up call for the PAP. I believe this is also a wake up call for the people. PAP may have a track record of 40 years in government but does this mean that they are infallible and that your future is ensured? Definitely not!

We must INSURE our future! It is better to have the opposition as a safeguard to watch over them. It is like buying an insurance policy for a rainy day even if you do not need it now.

I have raised 2 specific issues – one on means testing for c-class wards and the other on lift upgrading. I know what the PAP is doing because I am in Parliament. I have tracked these 2 policies closely. Let me ask you “Has the PAP given you any satisfactory answers?” NO!

I am 50 this year and have gone through a long journey in politics. How many more years do I have to contest? The other elected opposition member, Mr Chiam, is even older.

Whilst the PAP is in the process of renewal, Workers’ Party is also doing the same. If there is no support for Workers’ Party at this election, it could derail our renewal process and we may not be able to provide you with such a strong choice in the next election. You the voters would be the main loser as you may not have a choice to exercise your right to vote.

If there is no effective instrument for you to check the PAP and get them to account for their policies and issues on cost of living, you will only have a mortgaged future!

The Workers’ Party team in Aljunied is a mature and strong team. They are highly educated, sharp and articulate. More importantly, they are passionate and public-spirited people.

I know my shortcoming – I am not articulate in English as I come from a Teochew speaking family and am Chinese educated. I don’t mind telling you this - I got F9 for my English in the ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels.

I strongly believe that if you vote this team into Parliament, they will perform better than I. They will help bring Singapore closer to a First World Parliament. You can expect better debates and checks and they will work to ensure that the government account to you for their policies.

I urge all of you to give them a chance to serve you. If you have any doubts, you can vote them in for one term and judge their performance for yourselves. You can always vote them out in the next elections if they do not perform.

It is not easy in Singapore to get people of good calibre to stand on the opposition platform but they are here today to give you a choice. They are capable and have track records in their careers. They are recognized internationally for their capability.

There are not many 5 years in a person’s career. They are prepared, at the height of their career age, to come forward to serve you. I urge you to be fair to them and give them the opportunity to serve you.

I have been involved in the election process since 1984 with JBJ. I have no doubt about the integrity of the election process. I can attest that your vote is secret. If not, I won’t be able to last in this process for so long.

Before you go to the polling station tomorrow, reflect on what Workers’ Party stands for and what have done these last few days. Reflect on what kind of Singapore and future you want.

Workers’ Party is pro Singapore and we work for the interest of Singapore above the interests of our party. We will serve you to the best of our ability.

So Fellow Singaporeans, I urge you to make the right choice. Vote for The Workers’ Party!

To testify to you what I mean The Workers’ Party is Pro-Singapore, we will now recite the Pledge.

  1. I was just there, guess one of the many who have been consistently turning out for the last nine nights. There were clearly a movement going on. The crowd was reluctant to go, without a last chance before the polling day to get up close with the politicians, and vent their pent up frustration. but the crowd control was so effective, the police basically 'held' the crowd in the stadium for a good 15-20mins before we were let out. i want to wish WP good luck tomorrow. See you in Yio Chu Kang stadium tomorrow night.

  5. I believed an estimated 100,000 people attended WP rally at Serangoon Stadium, inside and outside.

I am gunning for a win too in East GRC and AMK GRC. Nothing wakes the PAP more than a lost in AMK!

  10. Yes indeed! The WP fought well in this campaign. Unlike the PAP, the WP did not launch any personal attack on the PAP candidates. Unfortunately, 9 days of campaigning is too short for a meaningful discussion of issues to take place, but in the first place, the PAP did not want any discussion. They just want to go through the motion. Think we Singaporeans stupid?? Our election process is really third world!!

But I do feel a bit worried about what LHL warned about the possible return of Gomezgate. Let's just have a vote. Will pxp label him:
    a) a marxist/terrorist/timebomb ala Dr Chee
    b) someone supported by 'external' agents ala Francis Seow
    c) Indian chauvinist ala Tang Liang Hong
    d) Political dissenter ala the guy exiled to Sentosa

    Let's preempt pxp's move!

Singaporeans will be singaporeans, they just come to have fun and soak in the atmosphere so that they can talk about it. But when it comes to the crunch, they will be looking for others to do the job (voting for opposition), while they quietly vote for the incumbent party.... what is new? we have seen this many many times.

My utmost respect for the workers party. They have come a long way despite the hardship and pain endured given the political gangsterism we have grown so accustomed to ; esp during election.

Come tomorrow, I know how the result will be like since the PAP system over the years had unconsciously makes us materialistic that places self before anything else... So To Mr Low Thia Khiang and his team, no matter how the result might be pls do not give up on us (Singaporean) for I am sure somedays the people will wake up to their mistake... hopefully its not too late.

May God Bless you and the rest of the Worker's Party

I attended the wp rally at serangoon stadium tonight and i caught CNA when i got home. i'll just like to add an observation that I made with regards to the issues that the youth in Singapore are concerned about. Both Mr James Gomez and Mrs Lim Hwee Hua talked about engaging the youth and paying more attention to the issues that young adults face today. Mr Gomez touched on issues like freedom of expression on the internet while Mrs Lim Hwee Hua was talking about setting up wi-fi hotspots in Community Centres. I'll just like to say Gomez echoed my thoughts almost perfectly while Mrs Lim proposals were on a different wavelength almost altogether. Even though Gomez did not come up with concrete suggestions, at least he nailed the issue spot on. I believe you first have to understand the problem before being able to come up with solutions for it and Gomez has struck jackpot by being able to identify with the youth of Singapore. Mrs Lim, as far as i am concerned, got it all wrong. With many homes wired-up today and many youths having access to the internet at home and in far hipper and happening joints like Delifrance, Coffeebean and even McDonalds, we dont really need new wi-fi hotspots to be added in Community Centres of all places. Now thats a waste of public funds. I rather she use the funds to upgrade the lifts and distribute them to the opposition-held wards who have been deprived of their fair share of public funds that are paid in the form of taxes by the same hougang and potong pasir residents.

I'm worried for WP and SDA too.. Really hope they'll win some of the GRC, Apart from that, don't lose hougang and Potong Pasir!

I guess we really gota recognise their efforts. It's not easy for an opposition to stand up in singapore. somemore, for a good 20+ years. If they ever win aljunied, I'll join them. It's not about pure monetary rewards but their passion to Singapore.

Oh, they are holding a gathering at Yio Chu Kang Stadium tmr at 8pm. Hopefully, its a celebration. Hope to see all of u there! and lastly, thanks to those whom have contributed videos of those rallies. Thanks for giving us an alternative media apart from pappies media.

    HOLD UR BREATH!!! AND PRAY!

Interesting fact: While most hardworking election candidates from both the pap and opposition were at rallies trying to garner votes on the final day of campaigning, George Yeo (anchor mp for the hotly-contested Aljunied GRC) apparently attended a taping of a charity show at mediacorp (according to CNA)

Yes, i've experienced the same too.. cun call out but how did they do that? ooo.. amazing.. hee!

To what i see on my frends, some of them have accepted this sort of system. They prefer status quo and they have no preference on whether they can have a say or not. Basically, they are satisfied with the economic aspects.

And for some, they told me that wat will happen if WP take over as govt. I guess they fear uncertainties. And i guess they've over-reacted cos they are merely winning places in parliament.

They just cun be brainwashed by me easily.. they just wan economic stability which might not be offered otherwise. Very sad to see such people around.

while george yeo happily watched a show at medicorp, the pap sent a letter outlining concrete plans to every single household in Aijunied grc 1 day before polling day. Questions: Y did they unveil the plan only 1 day before polling day? have the plans been done up long ago or was it a last minute scramble to win some lost votes back from the opposition? Same old tactic again. 'buying' votes as usual. Pap seem to have run out of ideas or maybe they are just simply not trying hard enough to come up with better proposals and plans to convince the people. The opposition has to make them think harder.

So much euphoria! LTK's speech is definitely the best political speech I've ever heard. He come across as genuine, frank and courageous. WP's non-confrontional stance also struck a chord with many. It's very refreshing to see how WP do a clean campaign rather than operating with a hanging cloud of lawsuits. I'm not surprised if there'll be an ground-breaking results tommorrow. Compared to the first day of rally, the cheers seemed louder, people seemed more passionate, more engaged even with more courage! Goes to show that with opposition parties around, things really become livelier! I think LTK's call for 1 term of chance. If they're no good, vote them out the next. Best wishes WP!

    Re Jolynnn,

Wanna convince ur friend to vote opposition? try this.

When Singtel was a monopoly, IDD call to the US costs $3.00 per minute (I know, cos I was studying there). When competition came in through M1 and Starhub, IDD drop to what - 10 cents a min now?
So the point is simple - political competition is essential for the good of the people, the economy, and the nation. Another 30 years of one-party rule and this nation as we knows it may degenerate into a failed state. So much for your friend's content with existing economic stability

    ReplyDelete
  39. Anonymous3:13 AM GMT+8

Economic stability from the government included group think.

In the 70s, the garment industry in Singapore and Hong Kong were at about the same level of production. And smart PAPies decided that garment industry had no future and essentially killed that industry with government policy.

Hong Kong found its own way, and a lot of makers decided to move up the foodchain and established their own brands.

Fast forward to 2006, HK's garment industry is a "fashion" industry, while Singapore had none. Dear old PAP Gov did nothing! Had they trusted the people and companies to do something, WE would have found a way to compete.

Do you trust the play it safe group think PAPpies to bring Singapore forward in entertainment industry (casino, film) or even biotech industry? We need alternative view points and WP is certainly up to mark.

but just wanted to add that the pledge we said just now is for Singapore, our home and our future. It's about what we believe in and what we protect. It's about how we live our life and how we treat our friends. It does not matter which party leads it or who leads it, if it is said from our heart it will always be meaningful and that is what really matters.

kudos to wp for putting in so much effort and thought for the people!
thanks for making us feel Singaporean once again...
    many "new" years to come!

It's interesting what life can teach you. The PAP old guards went through economic and political struggle, and emerged stronger since those turbulent years. Their policies may not have been perfect but there have been good ones benefitting the nation. However, the same cannot be said of the new generation PAP candidates. The new generation "leaders" lack creativity and are ahead of the competition only because they had a headstart.

PM Lee is right. This election is about Singapore's future, but does his team have the track record, passion, and creativity to move us forward in a manner that parallels the earlier generation? I don't think so. The only advantage they have are the financial & political muscles, and let me say that leaders of old helped built Singapore with none of these, but with a common passion and belief to help all Singaporeans overcome challenges close to their heart without discrimination.

We need to go back to basics. Our society has pitched materialism, self-interest and elitism (under the guise of meritocracy) ahead of foundational values like selflessness, love, humility, and humanity. A society devoid of sound values cannot last long. Even the most successful corporations & businesses have sound and meaningful corporate & community values.

A post-65er, I have benefitted from the PAP's system over the years and I am thankful for that. However, I know in my heart that while this country has progressed from 3rd world to 1st symbolically, we have lost much of the soul and community spirit that a nation, essentially a family, needs. We are being reduced to a money-spinning machine in the name of economic progress. This, I am afraid, is the beginning of degeneration and insanity. The IR proposals smack of "kiasuism" rather than ingenuity and creativity. A surprising loud voice emerged from the public when the IR idea was mooted. Money is important, but people know enough to differentiate what makes a sound national investment. If PAP is a private limited company deciding to invest in casinos, we won't care. But if a Govt is doing that on behalf of her people, something is seriously wrong. Is chasing after money the all-important goal? Isn't a nation about lives, responsibilities, and shared mission and vision?

From the early years, I have tasted the effects of meritocracy. I have been a top student myself in a top school, and was on my way to apply for a PSC scholarship. I wanted a career with the Army as my dad was a full-time NCO. However, at the first interview, I was told that being deaf, SAF will not accept me as an officer. Now, that's interesting, but I have never looked back. I moved onto the private sector and achieved much in the last 15 years and am today part of the senior management team with a global organization. I volunteer my services to the deaf and take time to speak to parents of deaf people, out of a concern for a marginalised people, without any inducement of money, fame or what nots.

Point is? We need to reflect more. PAP's education system in the 70s & 80s taught me to be a responsible and civil citizen. Unfortunately, the current generation of leaders have been emphasizing on chasing trophies and recognition above issues that are close to people's heart. It's almost like the way the old NKF emphasizing fund-raising above the basic needs of the patient, which is their core mission.

This said, exercise your vote wisely. I wish I am in the Aljunied GRC so that I can support the WP which has come across as being responsible and mature. Nonetheless, though the WP is not contesting in my ward, the SDA team gets my vote today as I believe in giving these "average" candidates a chance to represent us in restoring some sanity and a sense of right and wrong in nation-building.

we do not discredit mr. lky for his nation building efforts, but we seriously need to consider, and ponder over, about who we should place our trust in our future leaders.

a good govt. will need to take care of the people's immediate needs, not one that gives you 0.6K (1/100 of a peanut) in a year, and takes more peanuts out of you in 5 years!

    Alvin,

Still rememember the MRS Goh Chock Tong "NKF Peanut case"?? Want to strongly hightlight to everyone that the monthly salary of a Minister is more that 100K Dollars/per month. For us we work so hard only able to earn at most 2-3k per month. SO UNFAIR RIGHT!!

After that peanut case we no longer see MRS GOH C T wife on TV... guess u all know why!! Because Mr & Mrs Goh C T's Salary is fair much more that the Previous chairman of NKF.

If Mrs Goh said the earning $30K/monthly salary is peanut. Then we earning $2-$3K monthly is only an ant to them.... Not only that "Mah Bow Tan" also look down on those low income earning Singaporean & only want care is the yearly increase of Transport cost, House chores fees, Utilities bills and GST.

So why support PAP??? U want a higher living cost for all Singaporean??? U want the pay of so call "PAP Minister" we increase???

Our future is our your hands! Yes, your vote! Open your eyes.
Vote wisely and do not be intimidated! VOTE FOR OPPOSITION PARTIES. It is your right to vote, and make sure that you insure our future!

After that peanut case we no longer see MRS GOH Chock Tong's wife on TV... guess u all know why!! Because Mr & Mrs Goh C T's Salary is far much more that the Previous chairman of NKF.

If Mrs Goh said the earning $30K/month salary is peanut.

U want the pay of so call "PAP Minister" to increase further???

Our future is our your hands! Yes, your vote! Open your eyes.
Vote wisely and do not be intimidated! VOTE FOR OPPOSITION PARTIES. It is your right to vote, and make sure that you insure our future!

  57. Fellow citizen, I am in my late 40's and I only got to vote once!! (about 30 years ago).
At that time, the opposition was weak, and guess where my vote went?
Today, the political landscape of the opposition, especially WP, has changed. And I believe under the leadership of MR. Low Thia Khiang, it would changed even better in the future. But today, right before your eyes we have this group of talented WP candidates, who despite the odds, came forward to want to serve you in your contested constituencies. It does not only takes passion and public spiritedness, but lots of guts to come forward, and avail themselves.
My ward was under Aljunied GRC years ago, but after the Tang LH incidence the electoral boundary was redrawn and it is now under Marine Parade GRC. Today if I have a chance to vote, you will know where my vote will go to!!
Competition is good for us, our government has always "preached" that to us. Yes, it true!! We have experience it in more ways than not. Competition in parliament is even better!! This ensures that whatever public policy that affects us is well thought through and debated before it is passed at the highest office in our government.
Today if you have the right to vote, remember this - "YOU HAVE A CHOICE"!!

  58. It is expected the WP party will lose in AMK...just like any sucide squad, do you think there is any chance for a few young lads taking on Goliath? The point is, they have shown themselves to be brave, dedicated and forth coming genuinely wanting to serve by offering themselves as the alternative. While we know they will be "massacared" by the sheer firepower of the incumbent party, they have demonstrated true courage. I can imagine the agony, pain and disappointment these young ppl will feel come the result but I am really proud of them and as far as I am concerned they have already won my heart.

Hopefully, these lads will presevere and return to fight the next election. If they can last long enough, I am sure they will come back not only "older" but much better and sharper. Watchout PAP, the "suscide" squad will be back !

PS: If they hit 40% they already won

  59. I'jit Singh true to form of a running dogs will do anything just to score a few points with his master. Today he can sell out someone who has a casual conversation with him, tomorrow he will sell out the country. He is just one of the entire breed that are "reared" to do just that...feedback and report on ppl. If they could capitalize on the information, they will. Ask yourself you can trust characters like that to hold office?

So the next time you speak to a PAP lackey be careful of what you say

  61. Do not under estimate the power of internet. I am sure this election will be different from past. Controlling TV, Radio and Newspaper is no longer enuff.

Most educated and intelligent citizen will be on AP side. The older uncles and aunties always complains about PAP. So i guess unless you are working in GLC, Ministry, or any govt related industries, who will vote for PAP?

Is is so important for an opposition win this round. In the course of this election campaign, the opposition shocked the pap because they are arrogant, over-confident and think that pap will definately continue its rule on us. The opposition has moved our hearts by being calm and focused on issues instead of getting dragged into pap's political game. This only exposes pap's inability to have empathy for the people and exposes cracks in their doings and the system.

However, i'm sure now the pap know that the opposition is strong, next round it will be harder for the opposition as it will be fully prepared and won't be caught unawares. It might try to win back their support in one of the two ways:

    1) It will increase efforts on its current approaches and continue to do things like redrawing election boundaries, media control, suing the opposition and destroy their character, their career, their finances and their lives... etc.
    2) It will finally understand how the people feel and work towards winning back our votes by serving the people.

I hope for the best. The more the opposition win now, the more hope we will have. But I hope that even if they lose a couple, we will still support them in their causes.

We are the ones with the power to vote.
We are the ones who can bring a change.
We need to help them to help us!

Yes the next election will even be tougher for the oppositions. Besides the repeated disappointment by fearful and selfish Singaporeans, the goverment will definitely make it more difficult for them to contest, if it is worth the effort at all.

Have you wonder why there are 422 polling stations this round? It groups the different areas into their respective polling stations. For example there may be 100 blocks of HDB flats into a particular polling stations. While it is impossible for them to know how each individual voter votes, however, they are able to know how each area (by polling station) votes. The number of polling stations determines the gunarity of the voting demographics. So come next GE, if your area is under some strange constituency... do not be surprised.

So now the next question is, should the election department comes under the goverment for a fair play?

I DONT BELIEVE IT, heard over CNA only 1.2 million citizens get to vote!!!! What is this??? And the remaining 3 over million do not have to vote! God, in the next election we will only have 500 thousand and perhaps a total walkover. SO much for a democracy.

So if there 422 polling stations as you had mentioned, it means that each station will handle 1.2m /422 = 2843 votes.

No wonder they win every election as the result of election engineering. Wakeup SIngaporean SOMETHING is VERY WRONG !!!!!!1 God help us.

WOW, thanks for the insight. So wining an SMC is just as difficult as buying TOTO not to mention a GRC win!

No wonder George Yeo is so relax to attend some shows last nite.... sure win one.

Since PAP has the majority win, so why not do away with GE as long as one party takes the majority. At least one thing we all can appreciate as the result of this - one public holiday

Forget about first world voters, there won't be any voting left to do in the future... Today only 1.2 million gets to vote, come next election you will have even lesser and lesser. Even if the population increased, most would be foriegner gaining citizenships. Do you think they will vote against the incumbent goverment?

Good luck Singaporean, the PAP is here to stay and there is nothing you can do about it. Try as you may to vote for the opposition, the election boundaries drawn will continue to diminish the chances of opposition. So what if you have George Bush as oppositions the election methods and system will prevent any opposition for getting sufficient votes.... 51% against 49% at best. (they have PHDs working on this to ensure max odds for oppositions) Worst then TOTO, there is at least 1 in a multi-million chance. In this, the chance is 0 here. Get real Singaporeans and not to have too much hope. It is now beyond what you and I can do,they too deeply entrenched. Unless there is a reform of the system, we, yr children and yr children's children will forever be the economic slaves of PAP (Pass Away Painfully)

So, why do you think the PAP remained so confident and cocky all this while? you have the answer.

    God bless all Singaporean

wp really did singapore proud this time round

i can't say that i agree with all its recommendations, but i dare say it nails the real issues that singaporeans shd be talking about today freely, responsibly and passionately

but the bigger issue is that singaporeans must really wake up.. stop complaining that we have no choice, now that we have...all we need is just guts

And i really hope that the huge turn-out at the rallies are not just one big wayang

this is the time that we can make a difference

    Dess,

Like you I really hoped the supporters there are no wayang. Considering only 1.2 mil out of 4 mil, hypothetically speaking on average every 1 out of 4 there can vote. Minus those who vote for PAP and spoilt votes what is left that goes into the ballot box for WP?

There is no way to beat the system they have put in place. I am not a wet blanket, the whole election process is a BIG wayang. For sure PAP will NOT lose any GRC.If luck is on our side, we have have one SMC.

They will lament, they will curse, but when they vote, it goes to the PxP! This will not change! Not in the past, not now, not in the future! They have forgotten how their blood was being sucked dry and bone marrow being extracted and bones being reduced to ashes! God bless the Opposition!

It does not matter if u've voted for party A or party B, most importantly, u've made a sound decision. That's the true spirit of democracy!

for those who acted in cowardly or childish manner, and those who does not spare a thought for the good of the general public, i do sincerely hope u be happier when u saw many more others suffering because of your childish and foolish, or perhaps, selfish actions...

I am an 60+ years old man. i saw a gangster turned over a hawker stall(simple and small) as the hawker could not pay the protection fee during my childhood time.Nowsday without this type of things happened. As the section 55 is a good law which can control the ganster effectively so gangster scares police in singapore comparing to police scares gangster in other country. But one party has asked to take away this law which means to give freedom to ganster no to people.I have not attended any rally (a communist style) of any party during past 47 years, but i use my cool brain to vote a party which can give people a secure, no corruption place. All the sweet words voiced out during election days were unpreditable. The 60+ years' living -- the changing of life from bad to good, unsecure to secure, the facts make me to vote the capable, no corruption party which affects greatly to my country--Singapore.
