Vote for PAP means:

From Sammyboy's Coffeeshop forum:

  1. You accept their system of government, a system of trampling on the basic civil rights of the citizens. You have no right to free speech, and that means criticisms will be censored, or worse, interpreted as defamatory and be charged. Even when you criticize court cases or its sentencing, you will be treated as contmpt of court, and be fined or jailed. In other countries, when their govt deliver poor performance or overtax their citizens, they are allowed to demonstrate and protest. Not in this system we have - you talk and you will be in trouble.

  2. You accept a system of stiff fiscal penalties, from paying ERP and COE, to buying and maintaining a public flat - either for reasons of "limited resource" to "market pricing" excuses. You will be so broke and in debt that in later life, retirement is something no longer availble to you. You will work until you drop dead.

  3. You accept a system of totalitarian rule, with laws to tell you how many children you should have based on your academic attainment, to freezing your CPF money based on your inability to manage your own retirement.

  4. You accept a system of state controlled media propaganda where only one side of the story is promoted, and television that shows monologues between the leaders and their citizens. Anything else will be censored.

  5. You accept a system of non-functioning parliament - Members of Parliament, which you are going to elect as your voice in government, are not allowed to speak nor vote on your interest or welfare. No matter what the their party candidates promises you of "adding value in parliament" or to "help the poor and sick", they are prevented from doing so in parliament, for if they try to speak and vote on the peoples' behalf (that's their job, really) they will face party disciplinary action for not supporting all policy or law put forward by their party leader. What is the big deal, you ask. Well, it means in plain language, your voices are gagged in parliament, the nation's highest decision making assembly. It means you had been silenced by the government.

  6. You accept a system of non accountability to the people - from absense of tansparency of the country's reserve, to details of how many citizens lost their jobs or were downgraded in salary or rank. Nor is there independent audited figures to tell us how many foreigners we let in took away mid- to senior positions from citizen workers. You may sacrifice your years doing National Service, but this govt system do not protect your jobs, do not really subsidize your healthcare or govt built homes, and leave you out in the cold with media silence and parliamentary gag. They can grab numbers from thin air and publish them for public consumption, and with transparency lacking, you never know if the govt took you for a ride.

  7. You accept a system of unmoderated and excessive elitism in this govt system, where you get top posts from paper certificates and no measurement of their proficiency nor performance. In fact, these "elites" (some called them scholars) can get into parilament without a contest, get top public office positions without any relevant background, and continue to hold their posts without delivering any improvement to the public. Not only uou will be burdened with their generous financial rewards, you will also have to put up with their frequent cost increases that you, the public has to pay for.

  8. You elect a govt who when it comes to writing laws, or finalizing policies, do not have the obligation to ask the people, even if such laws and policies affect every citizens' lives. You elect a big-brother-knows-all govt who speaks of public feedbacks but never take them into consideration nor acted on them. Faulty policies and unfair laws were passed and who will suffer? It's YOU. Not the govt, not the elites who makes the decisions. Did they listen to you? Acted for your interest? Or did they put you in debt by squeezing your hard earned money by way of taxes, levies, penalties, HDB flats, CPF distortions, and fines?

  9. You accept a Party lacking in integrity - when the leader push his son into office, put his relative to manage our national reserves, put his buddies to administer the laws, use public money for their party interests, punish and prevent free speech and criticisms, disallow their MPs to speak and act for the citizens, maintains an army of mercenaries, allows citizen to be incarcerated into a mental institution at the president's pleasure, sue opposition leaders into bankruptcies, character assassinate political opponents, pretending to be whiter-than-white rascals, and remove any contest to the presidency election.
This is all I can compile impromptu in just under 30 minutes - more if you care to think. The best part is that we have saw, in real life, of a govt who remove their peoples' right to free speech, free press, and free and peaceful assembly, and reduced to colonial subjects AND SLAVES, yet they will vote theIR oppressors into govt. How media propaganda repeated ad nauseum can confuse the average mind, making them into fools, is really amazing!Time is ripe to kick their ass. Get rid of the dictatorship.

I begged all voters, please vote the Opposition. They are the ones that will save our next generation. We have to stop what PXP has been doing, we have to act now before its too late. Good, old and understanding PXP ministers are gone, the golden spoon young ones will not know what is suffering. Please vote for all those people who are suffering in silence. God and Buddha will bless you.

  3. Whether they are WP, SDA or even SDP, we must vote them into Parliament. They are our voices in the Parliament. Give them a chance to prove their worth. Who knows they can do even better than PAP cos they are willing to serve full-time for the people.

I am getting sick of PAP arrogant attitude. Must they keep reporting on JG issue?

And now, our dear old Mr Lee even called JG a liar. Last election, he called Mr Chee a mad dog. Who next? What next, Mr Lee? You are not tired, I am...

Fear not, I expect Old Mr Lee will come out with something extremely fishy to sway your votes. Don't listen to him. He talks nuts!!

We cannot have PAP to have 90 MPs. We need at least 3 oppositon MPs.

    Send them to Parliament, Singaporeans!

Good rebuttal by Chiam S T yesterday on quality of PAP candidates. I am very impressed and moved. Who didn't make careless mistakes ? Old election strategy of intimidating oppositions and sidetracking own weak points is no more acceptable in present situation.

  7. not as if in the case that you vote for opposition you get free speech, demonstrations, transparency, pple will have more babies, etc. once they get elected as MPs, they'll just behave like P*P since THEY are in control of monetary issues. come on.

I totally supported that no matter how good the PAP goverment is or what they had done for us or whatever issue they raise, we need opposition to be in the parliament to ensure democracy. But guys, remember we are the one who can see the pictures but most of our parent or old people can't because uneducated. Please kindly also asked your parent and relatives or whoever afraid of no upgrading to vote for the opposition.

    Point 1.

In the real world, when there is no competition, degradation comes along...
Look at how flightless dodos got extinct because they lost the ability to fly.
Sailors only need to walk right up to them and club the poor dodos on their heads.
Worst of all, the dodos don't even recognise the dangers they are facing...

    Point 2.

Our current Constitution requires 2/3 of the parliament to approve the proposed Bill in the 2nd and 3rd reading to be passed as an Act...
Look at the results of the last GE in 2001, we all know that only 2 out of 84 seats were taken up by the opposition.
We are all living in a precarious situation without even realising it.
You know what you should do in the coming GE if you can exercise your rights.

    Point 3.

Absolute power corrupts! Without compeition in the parliament, chances are there will be further price hikes, further increase in Ministers' pay, and a burden that is too hard to bear on us.

TAKE HOME MESSAGE OF THE DAY:

Remember... Absolute power corrupts! Vote for a more vibrant scene in the parliament where different voices can be heard!

  10. they can allow 2 opposition wards to become slump, but i can guarantee you that they can't allow 20 opposition wards to become slump! so upgrading doesn't work!i see the WP is growing and it's an encouraging sign.why not give them a chance!if you still have doubts, please go for their rally at least once to see a different picture.

  12. from the anonymous who posted at 11:08 am sgt....you said u work in the media.

    1. What do you mean u dont have a choice? Of course you have a choice.!Its whether your consience prick you or not. There is a choice in front of you..you had chosen to sell your soul for the montly salary to do one sided reporting. So dont say you dont have a choice.l

    2. If you do not have a choice , it also means you cannot be objective. Then how can you appeal to the citizens/readers here that you dont want to mislead them?

As a Singapore myself, I ask one simple question, Why we need oppositions parties? My answer is if you watch 2 men playing chess, you will able to tell very clearly why they are clever people but fail to stage a good move to win over his opponent. This is because as an on looker yourself, you will able to see more clearly that many silly mistakes are made and yet you are even better than the 2 player who may look like clowns but cannot perform their moves well.

The last reason my answer is a sentence which an Englishman say " A goverment is only considered good is because the people can check on them." I think that is why the opposition worker party Mr. Low say we must never give a blank cheque to them. Thank you.

My worse fear is that retirement comes.... oops I almost forget, that day may never come as I had to work even to the last day of my grave, sorry wrong again,my cremation. Why I has such negative thinking? The answer is retirement in Singapore need Sing 300 thousand dollars and a roof over over your head.I alway thought the CPF will settle it but the CPF logo has 3 keys,WHY? Reason 1)First key hold by Singapore elected or walkover President,2)Second key lies with the decision maker,The prime minister and his cabinet minister, wait here, but what is the key or keys are lost or misplace or some one change its locks? 3) The last key belong to me and my question is my key can open my CPF money or not?. I actually spent 2 years ponder over this issue with many sleepless nights but now I had a choice ...........

I believe the Death Penalty has cause much concern from the world about Singapore future.

Recently,an Indian man was subjected to hang after killimg his Indian wife, who commit adultery and cause him to become insane at some point of time.

I strongly agreed that he should be punish but hanging is too much for his case. But what can we do? The decision is up to the Minister Cabinet and the Singapore President.

Therfore, I hereby pledge that democracy to be re-look and consider that a life may be lost by our Laws.

Is Capital punishment the only way out? Are we inhuman? Buddha taught people to avoid killing and do good, How about us?. How will other rate us, do not tell me about just growth here and there will let us become more richer as a country.

Is time for us to become more Human,no matter what religion one believe in, atre we are Singaporean with a big heart?

I had to re-examined and reconsider and adjust my mind again?

I think we become a laughing stock as I read that our Health Minister Mr. Khaw was goinging to build a retirement village maybe in Indonesia island which land are cheap.

May I ask those who vote for PAP to re-consider your vote, think carefully, what enthic have we inherited from our dear parents?

In case those who still do not understand my point,In ancient China,a child has to mourn for his/her parents deaths for 3 years on a mountain by building a small house next to it and stay there.

This may look stupid but the moral of this is we are moving far away from what we are taught in school as many beliefs cannot be taught in schools.

Has PAP thoughts of this -meaning those Singaporean who are poor, old and cannot live here when they retiring, they may be isolated.

Please think deeply again, are we Singaporean living in a small country, with a big heart or a small heart or no heart at all?

You decide your future at the polls.

My future plans if PAP dominate our lives in Singapore.

If my wife cannot live longer than me,my children migrate or have their own lives to cope. I will consider living in a jungle after selling my assets.

But in Singapore, living in the jungle may consider an offence and suspected as terrorist,a Chinese old man like me may be jail under the Internal Security Act (ISA ).

So, migrate is the only solution, perhaps to Tibet mountain or South East Asia place.

Retirement is a big headahe for poor Singapore like me,unless I take another choice to vote for the opposition and tell them my fears of retirement.

To the person who works in the Media who posted at 11:08.

I recently heard my idol friend who told me he will never betray another person or organisation for his own gains no matter what happen.......... he was willing to starve to death, than betray others.

What a exellence principle he has although he indirectly telling me to do the same as he has done.Sometime in life we has to choose the good and evil, mostly, our environment do not permit us to decide correctly.I understand that, but to break away from one's principles or no principle at all make us regrets in life.

Antway is a lesson learnt and one can creat a new path when one repented and move towards brightness instead of the former darkness of life.

Never mind the past and move on to a bright future, I bless you will make it and live a happy life, without regrets. Best regards,a concern Singaporean.

I am so in agreement with the scholar thing. Scholars have their life well paved out in this government. You get good results, the government booked you for overseas studies. They come back, just do their job like any other non-scholars do, always given prominent opportunities, and get promoted every other year. What have the scholars really done? Did they change the world?

hi guys, I can't sleep this morning so I'm posting this for a last gasp protest!

Its 4 am now and 4 more hours to go.

Let's protest! Let's protest! Lets use our votes wisely!

    Don't let us continue

    - getting animals working for horrifically obscene peanuts behaving worse than animals pretending to do public service for us...
    - giving up...and tender our resignation...that life will always be the same for us no matter what...
    - being pinned down in our efforts to share our knowledge of what could make it better by the same group of people who said....'let's encourage creativity and freedom to express yourself' (ah..bullshit)
    - being repressed new age new poor beggars in this 'fine' city(even beggars of the past can earn more than us)
    - letting the ruling elitist rich become richer and letting them rob us 'in broad daylight' and getting away with so many discrepancies and never needing to apologise for their crookedness .and easily spew a simple 'let's move on' but hurl hateful slander to others

..... oh my god...the list goes on ...

will i and you be punished some more? come on you guys and lets all make history.....for once...

Election 06 is the same as 2001 except PAP has a lower percentage, nothing improve much with Singaporean. i wonder what they get after this election, what things will increase, a PAP MP say:

opposiion cannot lower oil prices,I suggest Minister has a pay cut of at least 20% to let Singaporean respect them, other than this, I still wonder how many day a month PAP MP can serve us.

Because PAP s Has no compassion for our people that why they cannot think of ideas give me $500 every month and think for them if they are still thinking nuts....,,,

Such a boring Election for us.Really a let down are Singaporean staying this comfort zone which they has mistaken?

WE are like puppets only waiting to br pull or touch by others... Lame don't you think is it?.
