Seeing the crowds on the streets reminded me of something note worthy albeit a little off topic.
In New York city, the mayor Michael Bloomberg rides the subway to work everyday. For the uninitiated, this man is the 42nd richest in the US with a net worth of US$5 billion. He is more than able to ride a helicopter everyday. But this same man walked the Brooklyn bridge for his usual daily commute during the transit strike in 2005.
The PAP should learn something about this regarding leading by example. Stop taking the MRT or bus only during a hypocritical media showcase. Do this everyday and get a feel of what it is like to be a real Singaporean.
... of course, this would be too much to ask from anyone who thinks that $600 grand is peanuts. I'm sure the people of Singapore will understand.

It(Election rallies) has been an eye-opener so far for me. Needless to say, I am absolutely disillusioned with local media when it comes to accurate and unbias reporting. Yes there are the occasionally snippets of opposition party information out there, but i figure they are merely token in nature. Video like this would never have seen daylight if not for the technology we have today. Rally of the SDP (which in my honest opinion were of pretty high standard) were not even briefly mentioned in MSM. I suppose yesterday's CNA report showing two awkward young opposition member speaking slightly broken English (I dunno their names, but they sure look uncomfortable on stage)were the 'BEST' they could highlight. I wonder how much more i am missing by watching CNA. I sure didn't miss LHL lunch time rally, it was repeated for god-knows how many time! Its funny how we learned the word 'propaganda' from school not realising we were the very victim of propaganda right from the start. Thank god for internet!
Quite frankly, I doubt this is just a wayang party. If they can assemble such a powerful team (keeping in mind that we're talking about the opposition here), and that they do have candidates of well-established reputation (like Sylvia Lim as professor), I think they can do what they set out to achieve (as long as they do not face head-on blockade from the PAP). Do not forget that, despite a strong handicap, Low Thia Khiang is still able to run Hougang to a reasonable efficiency.
With regards to James Gomez, I do agree that he has to work on his memory. But sometimes we do not have a choice. Or rather, our choices are limited. It's between the WP and the PAP. Only two. To me, an idealist, between a team that play dirty politics and a team that has a forgetful memory, it is not hard to choose.
After bringing the family to the Hougang rally, I determined to be at the AngMoKio rally myself, to see how it feels to be alone among the people hoping for a better life when there's no one else to turn to, and straining to hear something positive from caring persons. And the speakers did deliver on that score. The brave young lady in the "gan si dui" made me think of what Lee Kuan Yew was like, many years ago, facing the British machinery, and seizing new life for Singaporeans. Never mind she's wearing the WP hat, she's light in the tunnel.
Just to get the facts right, i don't think Sylvia was ever a professor, however, thats no problem, we get a bit confuse by the MSM we sometime cannot differentiate fact from fiction. Nevertheless, I do agree with you. Its not that hard to decide, the only problem is, I don't have the option to exercise my right because I got a walk over. Its a sad fact but I am truly inspired by the events that has transpired these few days and hopefully, I will be there next election, not just as a voter but perhaps - a candidate myself.

Its football tactics, this is like Bolten vs Barcelona. The PAP team just passes the ball to midfielder LHL who hits a long ball (Gomez brand) into the WP penalty box where GCK stands timberlike. The others WKS, Jaya, HPK, MBT hopes to feed on the knock downs by GCK. They should bring in subs Viv, Ray and Say to create more variety.
WP has Ronaldinho magic oratory in LTK. He draws and electrifies the 100k crowd. Gomez who is not as fast on his feet as Eto and double the weight gets fouled and bruised all over but still gets up. And Gomez is fast and sharp with his brain and his mouth. Then there's goalie Sylvia organising the defence and initiating attacks with good throw outs.
The PAP goalie is LKY who may appear in the WP box for last minute corners. But surely the future belongs to the young guns of the WP in AMK, the Lionel Messi's, showing flashes of brilliance and awaiting their day on center stage.
Let JGomez pass. Who is not forgetful? Most great men are forgetful on minute things but are focused on big issues...JG right now just do not have the resources to employ a secretary to do the paperwork for them what! Poor him, big man like him has to be bothered with these administrative stuffs. But when he has one, I am confident he will be a forgiving boss on his stuffs who occasionally forgets!

At the lunchtime rally in UOB Plaza on Wednesday, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong addressed the issue of opposition MPs in Parliament. He said that if the opposition were to hold 10 to 20 seats in Parliament, he would have to spend much more time thinking what was the right way to "fix" them. What PM meant by his remark was that if there were many more opposition MPs in Parliament, the government and opposition would spend all their time and energies countering each other, and Singapore would be worse off for it. He used direct language to get this important point across to a mass rally crowd. If the exact words he used offended, he is sorry.

We are also wondering what the Prime Minister meant, when he said that he was intending to "buy my supporters votes"? How much is he intending to pay fellow Singaporeans just so they would vote for him? With the oil prices sky-rocketting, I am sure we would be delighted to have this clarified prior to the election date.
We are surprised at your arrival, Mr. Chen. Is this the last resort, the lowest of the lowest set of actions the PAP would like to undertake on the last day? Is the PAP really that desperate? By making this direct post, this a testament to Singaporeans that the opposition parties are indeed doing a hell of job! If you think this slight action was a means to damage control, you're sorely mistaken.
We're also wondering why the Prime Minister doesn't announce this sudden turn about in the media. Did you forget retired generals hold the current media in hostage? 2. to ensure that wealth can be distributed more evenly (Ministers earning ~100K a month is simply mind blowing, considering the monthly average earning of a singaporean in Q4 2005 is ~3.8K)
3. to ensure that healthcare issues will not be an issue for the lower income families (some poor folks out there only earns 0.8K a month)
4. to ensure healthcare costs for the elderly can be brought down to the minimal (the ideal is to make it free!)
5. to ensure there is no monopoly of power (Absolute Power Corrupts)
6. to ensure there is healthy competitions/discussions in the Govt. (Monopoly kills creativity)

Actually, I did not think much about the comments made by LHL until I read the "clarification" by his press secretary. Also the postings here. If they are true (which I believe they are), then the PAP has just lost a supporter for a long time.... I hate all these devious attitude in driving other people to a dead end, it is so unkind.

I disagree with kt's comments. Unlike PAP, this response/turnout is not organised by WP.People are responsing out of frustration, I guess.
