FEER banned from Singapore for the failure by the publisher to comply with the conditions imposed under Section 24 of the Newspaper and Printing Presses Act.
The magazine, published by New York-based Dow Jones & Co., had failed to meet with a Sept. 11 deadline and didn't do so even after a reminder was sent on Sept. 14, the statement said, without giving details of the conditions imposed. -bloomberg
Singapore gazetted FEER as "a declared foreign newspaper" on Dec 26, 1987 "for interfering in the domestic politics of Singapore" and later classified it as an offshore newspaper following an amendment to the NPPA.
In December 2004, FEER changed from a weekly to a monthly publication and, as a result, it ceased to be an offshore newspaper and was allowed to circulate in Singapore without having to comply with the conditions for offshore newspapers.
The magazine, with a circulation cap of 10,000 copies, however remained "a declared foreign newspaper" but in August, the ministry said: "It is an anomaly for FEER, which is a declared foreign newspaper, not to be subjected to the conditions that apply to the other declared foreign newspapers".
Following that, the government issued notice to FEER to comply with the conditions under the NPPA by Sept 11. -Bernama

"It is a privilege and not a right for foreign newspapers to circulate in Singapore. If any foreign newspaper fails to comply with the law, including the Newspaper and Printing Presses Act, they cannot expect to enjoy this privilege," said a statement put out by the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (Mica).
Feer is a monthly magazine based in Hong Kong and had been gazetted as a "declared foreign newspaper" under the Act in Singapore. It claims to have a circulation of about 3,000 copies - TODAY
Recently, a business acquaintance lost his job. In his previous role selling a world number 1 product, he was arrogant and demonstrated no tact or EQ in his words or actions. Such weaknesses were so uncommon in a salesman, but the product was selling well.
When he lost his job (due to changing requirements), there was much murmurs of how deserving he was of his fate.
Singapore is first world. Our "salesmen" have perhaps let that fact overwhelmed their small minds. Make no mistake. MICA's statement is a fact, but that does not mean that you can shoot off your mouth like a arrogant, badly behaved kid.
But he/she is only a spokes person? When do we draw the line between the organisation speaking or the spokesman speaking? When the spokesman fails to temper his message, but instead thump his chest and hold the message as his own, the spokesman is speaking.
Doesn't anyone find it ironic that FEER is being taken to task for supposedly "interefering in domesic politics" which is what? Merely making a statement or report that is contrary to what the Singapore Govt like to hear?
How about LKY intefering in our neighbours' politics than by opening his mouth?
